Popular Post PhillipBlunt
The whining seems to be informed by the stats weasels that have a hardon to bash whatever Benning does. I say ignore the slide rule geeks and enjoy the fact that the team is going to be better. Benning ain’t done yet. 3 11 2
AV.
A lot of people haven't watched OEL, nor have they consulted the analytics. It shows. This isn't 2015. Hope this helps. 4

That's about $365,000.00 per point. That a lot, even in Swedish krona.

Roussel, Eriksson, and Beagle were all signed by Benning. If it were another gm that came in and cleaned up Bennings anchor contracts I would love it. He is the one that caused the problem in the first place, so I find it hard to pat him on the back and say "hey what a great trade". It's kind of ridiculous when you think about it. Not so. Jim tried stuff. The players he signed turned out not to actually possess the character they sold him. They took full advantage. He fixed that today. Without dissing them in the media. Popular Post canuck73_3
Shocking the exact posters that I thought would whine about this trade have showed up to whine. We got rid of the 3 contracts and “useless” players they whined about having and brought back 2 good pieces for them. What more do you want for “useless trash?” Edited July 24, 2021 by canuck73_3

Basically, if someone in the organization could GAURANTEE that the 9 O/A pick would be top 4 defenceman or top 6 forward then we don't make this deal. Otherwise, we basically got OEL for a 1st, Garland for a 2nd, and paid ARZ a 7th to dump 3 bad contracts. A couple of days ago if GMJB reported that the Canucks had made a side deal with the Kraken to trade them Roussel, Beagle and LE for the price of a 7th, we'd be calling it the greatest deal in the history of the NHL. 15 minutes ago, Dixon Ward said: Jones is better and younger than OEL. They are closer in quality than many here seem to think. Jones contract is massive and will take him to 35 and so does OEL. Adam Boquist, 2 1st's and a 2nd? Adam Boquist is a great young player. Those are incredible picks. JB got Garland a 1st line RW. He gave up 3 contracts totalling 12 mil. He gave up a 2nd next year. He gave up a 7th in 2 yrs. After seeing what Philly paid for Risto and Chi paid for Jones, this is up there with the best deals in Canuck history. JB rules! All 3 contracts are expiring. OEL's contract runs through 2026/2027. Not saying the Canucks have lost the trade (because we'd have to see which version of OEL we're getting) but it's disingenuous to leave out such a big detail. I also don't want him feeling buried on the third line. He's too good for that. Players like Miller on the third line is what we need to be a contender. Horvat is 3rd line in Pittsburg. If their feelings are hurt move them out

Popular Post Oregon.Duck
Someone on twitter said it best, look at it like 3 trades 9OA + Eriksson for Garland 7th Rounder for OEL (12% retained) Beags + Roussel + 2nd for Nothing This looks like a more decent breakdown. Plus McTavish, Johnson, the guys we thought we’d get at 9th were gone. Garland>Guenther 2
