A few days ago I told folks to keep their expectations of Podkolzin in check somewhat. He’s gonna be an excellent player for us but he’s far from a finished NHL product.

Podkolzin needs to be on a checking line. I had low expectations for him but he's not even meeting those, despite playing with good players. He needs to activate his grinding game.

Agreed. I wasn't sure if he'd be NHL-ready, but my feeling right now is that I want to see more fire and "go" in his game. I was hoping for more Hansen/Hoglander and less Virtanen. Might be good for him to get big minutes in Abbotsford if he's not ready.
