What a low standard fans have. Upset over waiver wire talent who can still be re-signed. Can't keep all the scrubs if yall want roster space for some bigger boys who can throw down

Lol so our 2016 6th overall completely wasted.

I mean anytime you trade a top 10 drafted player for a project 4th liner its been wasted.

Virtanen was 6th

Juolevi was 5th.

But yes he will have brought completley 0 to our org if he's not.

He could still be signed. But think they redoing our entire bottom 6 here.

Since we don’t  seem to be making any significant moves, I guess they now have the freedom to fiddle around on the margins.
I guess it will be good to improve to mediocre.
‘I probably would have kept at least Lammiko, now we have 0 right hand centres and have one centre on the team and two wingers playing the middle.
‘Luckily our prospect cupboard is full at C.

Seems like management wants to play hardball with the guys who make peanuts for money,  but are happy to keep desert on the menu for Brock, Bo, EP.

seems to be how the winning teams do it. pay your stars and fill out the rosters with cheap, interchangeable players who outperform their contracts. then when it's time for those guys to capitalize on that, you move them out for new blood.

That is sports and society in general. A smaller percentage of people take all the money and leave scraps for most.
Even worse in the NHL because these bloated 10+ million/year contracts increase the escrow and squeeze the guys making the minimum the hardest.

With Highmore and Lammikko out, this basically paves the way for Lockwood to be on the 4th line to start the season. It's his spot to lose.

Sad to see Lammikko go, I felt like he did a very good job in his role. That said, it's pretty obvious this management team wants a right handed C on the fourth line. With Sutter basically retired, the team needs to find an NHL calibre right handed C for that 4th line. Curious who they'll take a chance on.

EP. Brock and Horvat have not reached their potential ceilings,.  but they’re getting very good money to show it.

EP was Bambi for 3/4 of last season and I think he’s getting more than 7.5 for the next 2-3 seasons..

Brock Disappeared and is getting close to 7m to show or go over the next 3 years.

Horvat, all though a very good centerman, FO specialist is probably going to get 7.5m on this next contract.. he is not physical ,  and not really the leadership example this team needs.

We have money dedicated to the “top end “that is overrated for what we get.

It's somewhat embarrassing to see us struggle to have cap space to qualify both Highmore and Lammikko... I doubt they will be willing to accept $750k a year unless it's for multi-years... I don't know how we can sign any players WED onwards unless we trade two or more of Miller/Myers/OEL/Garland quick....

Do hope that we consider re-signing Highmore and Lammikko, especially Lammikko. He's a solid 4C.

I think Lammy would be a great re-sign, but it depends on what’s out there during FA.

There’s more than a few teams that can’t really spend a lot either.

It’s also plausible that many teams, Nucks included, that decide to call up prospects for their 4th line issues.

So according to Capfriendly, we only have about $2M in cap space... that's like nothing then... just enough for 2x 4th liners... damnnnn... unless we just sign a key player to go over the cap anyway.. and then trade away Miller who got plenty of takers... I won't get very excited comes WED!! so so sad...

The options are just that, shed cap via trade or sign on the cheap and/or bring up AHL guys and limit their time while rolling the higher 3 lines first.

It’s going to be a $&!# show either way.

Don’t expect a contending playoff team next season.
