Im surprised no one is talking about Pearson being moved. Honestly think he's one of the more likely to move. Has had a good season, only 1 point behind Garland and is on a cheaper contract. He doesn't really fit the mold this team wants to go as well. Pearson reunited in LA? Toronto?
-
@Chickenspear He might say yes to LA if LA was interested in him.
-
Trade some of these guys. Cant keep watching such an inconsistent team. Boeser, Pearson, Hamonic, Myers, Chiasson, Hunt, Halak, Dickenson.... Fire sale this team, get some young prospects coming back. Id trade anyone on this team right now not named Pettersson, Hughes, Podz, Demko.
-
Great opening night game. Goldy and Pettersson are so damn skilled together!
Only issue with this game was Boeser looked quite bad turnovers and no offensive contributions. Im sure he'll bounce back sooner or later but not a great start to the season for him.
-
If San Jose is going all in this year then Josh Norris is definitely a solid prospect to target. Though we may be better off looking for good RD prospects or high picks to acquire them.
-
Well at least the upcoming drafts are looking promising
-
The only way I don't see this year being a success is if the playoffs get cancelled due to Covid. Losing our 1st round pick and not gaining all the playoff experience we can would hurt
-
Wow Pouliot needs to go... waive that guy
-
For myself it doesn't really matter what happens the rest of the year. We make the playoffs, Im happy. We get a top 15 draft pick in a deep draft, Im happy. This team is playing competitive games in March primarily off the play of our younger core players. Not to mention Hughes is having an astonishing year and should win the Calder
-
Me too...I feel exactly the same way. I've seen some GREAT games this year and I'll feel bad for the team if they don't get in, but also commend them on a great effort.
There have been some good takeaways from the year. Still not counting them out, but it's a bad time to hit a skid so very well could end up that way in a tight race. -
there's no point in setting your hair on fire and freaking out over the team, is going to do what its going to do at this point. Calling for coaching changes, etc. is just silly.
Their fate is still in their hands despite the latest road bumps too.
If they do fall short its also very easy to see what changes are needed, thankfully its not much.

Anyone have a vid/gif of the Goldy hit last night.
Biggest hit of the night even if it was an accident haha
-
@Alflives it was a collision lol but the other guy felt it .
-
Canucks just don't have enough star power. Some of our young generation will evolve into the players we need, but a top 10 pick and another 1st would set this team up for years
-
The Coyotes don't have enough starpower, the Islanders don't have enough starpower. What separates them from us is they battle relentlessly all the time and have good coaching staff. I'm tired of this "we need more starpower" BS, it doesn't fix the team playing sloppy and having stale systems that don't work. Also, knowing Green, whatever starpower we get in the future will be mismanaged and someone like Leivo will have more one-time than the star.

Would really like to see Goldy reunited with Pettersson to end the season. Skilled players need to play with skilled players in this league. Like really, how do you justify putting Eriksson in your top 6 over Goldy?

You can tell the refs are getting ready for the playoffs. Putting their whistles away and letting sh!t go uncalled
-
This team lacks drive. But its our team so GO CANUCKS GO
-
I mean this team has basically been Pettersson offensively carrying them on his back all year. He looks really tired to me and I agree with you that the whole team is to a certain extent. Hutton and Stecher have been playing crazy minutes due to our back end and they looked tired last game. Errors they haven't been making are occurring due to their fatigue.
Hughes is probably thinking. "I dont want to play for them right now... Id make them better and if their poor play keeps up they might get to draft my brother"
-
Waiting....waiting....waiting
-
That 3rd Toronto goal was the worst Ive seen Hughes in his own zone
-
After taking the time to consider yesterday I believe this will be hands down Benning's best free agency. In my mind this coming year is still a transitional one, but the year after we will be playoff competitive. Nice to imagine how are D-corps could look in a year.

Juolevi-Stecher

I don't understand Green sometimes... Baertschi first game back and on PP1?
-
Theres too much going on, I can't handle this!
-
If Toronto really does go all in this year and gets another RD then I can't see them any worse then the eastern conference final. Scary to imagine them with a good D core compared to what they play with now. Imagine if they did get Tanev. and went with this
Reilly-Haisey
Gardiner-Tanev
Muzzin-Zaitsev

If Edler is traded deadline day then he only misses 20 games as a Canuck.
Reverse way of saying it is if we trade Edler, yet promise him a contract next season, we lose him for 20 games (which could happen due to injury anyways). There are others we could audition during that time as well such as Hughes, McEneny, Sautner, Brisebois or any other players picked up in trades.
We will lose majority of those games, but is that such a bad thing considering the place we are in this rebuild. In many ways it would be silly to not trade him for such a short time assuming he see's it the same way.
-
Will be very surprised if Winnipeg doesn't add a veteran piece or two this offseason and go for it. Quite a few RFA signings coming up and they have a deep team with lots of prospects. I think Edler would be a great fit there if he's willing to waive.
-
One thing about Winnipeg - I was lucky enough to be in the Peg last year and saw 8 games live over that time - they have an amazing D core. lames fans think they have a great defensive group but man I's like the Canucks to follow Winnipeg's model for how to build from the back end out. Definitely see them adding a piece or two for a run again this spring. I think it will be like Stastny was last year and they will pick up a player on an expiring deal as they need the cap space for next season. Or like Jimmy says they will find a cheap option.
-
I cant wait for Del Zaster and Pooalot to be replaced by Juolevi and Hughes next year... The D core needs a massive change
-
D Core, not Markstrom, has been causing us to lose games. I mean, I'm at the point where I'd like to see Ashton Sautner and Evan McEneny get legitimate shots in this d-lineup before the end of the season. They'd actually be improvements over The Hitz King and Pouliot. Honestly, I hope Del Zotto gets dealt when Edler comes back. If Michael Kempny can net the Blackhawks a pick at last year's TDL, I'm sure DZ can get the Canucks back... SOMETHING!

Damn, was really hoping he would go to free agency and sign with the Canucks. He had such nice chemistry with Gaudette. Oh well, heres hoping we sign some top college free agents in the coming days as things wrap up.
-
They could be reunited, but they'll still have fun playing against eachother.
It's the guys who give you the hardest time in practice that are often your best friends. Plus, you don't go all Marchand on those you respect.
Stech and Boes were college besties.
But there's something to be said for not being a dick and signing with the team that drafted you. There's not a team in the world that drafts a player they don't want to see have success.
-
Wondering if this constant never ending line juggling is part of the problem why we aren't scoring. Seems like every shift theres a different line and that just seems bizarre and unproductive. Leave some guys together and let them build chemistry because whats happening right now isn't working. Or is this all part of the tank plan?
-
hard to score when your players can't complete a pass. most of their shots are from a distance or bad angles. my vote would be to hire paul reinhart to teach these guys how to pass the puck onto their team mate's sticks and how to take those passes cleanly. maybe use a better brand of glue on their sticks.
