If you are in the minority of people yet to get a single jab what are your reasons? Curious to know...

@SirCosmoDuffGordon You seem hostile, not sure why unless we have a "history" that you're hiding?
You do know that the anthem singer for the team was canned for his stance in all of this? And the team had a COVID variant and feels fairly strongly about it all?
So it's not about people having to follow MY thinking but more people should consider where they're sharing their outdated fakes news garbage. That goes against what the public health order has in place. Is it good to question things? Sure. Are you more qualified than medical and health professionals? I highly doubt it.
If you don't want to get a vax, fine...but don't expect to share crap from months ago that's outdated now without responding to a challenge about it. So do you have anything more current than January? And knock off the bigot crap too. It's not at all unreasonable to follow a public health advisory.
-
^ I agree with your stance with the death part as this virus has impacted everyone in someway.. but please be open minded and allow people to have anti-vaxx views as they do not work for the Canucks organization; since we live in free society people are allowed to express those viewpoints. They're not stupid or misguided for having those viewpoints and should not be bullied or harassed as with pro-vaxxers.
open-mindedness, equality, and freedom of expression is essential on these forums.

@Green Building For technical purposes is she not legal in Alberta if they can drive at 14? Is age of consent still 16 though?
-
What if I told you that the Canucks wont be a perennial playoff team until 2022 at the earliest?
They wont be a legit cup contender until a decade from now.

My grandfather passed away tonight..
I still can't believe I witnessed his last breath.. it's like a bad dream that I hope ends when I wakeup tomorrow.
It was so sudden.. I got a call while I was at work and ran out as soon as I could.
I wouldn't wish the feelings I have right now on my worst enemy.

Thanks @Alflives

Chip, I think that's a pretty normal feeling. My Dad passed away 12 years ago, I still think about phoning him to talk about hockey and then realize he's gone. I attended a memorial service for a good friend on the weekend. He died of cancer, we knew it was coming, but I'm still struggling with the fact that he's gone, I have this video playing in my head of all his great sayings, his mannerisms, what great hugs he gave. I know that eventually with time that sense of loss will fade. It's a tough thing to wrap one's head around the idea that one minute someone is there, the next minute they are gone.
It sounds like you had a great relationship with your grandfather, so you have lots of memories to think about. Those great memories will help you deal with the loss in a small way.

Would you use Tanev as trade bait in a Tyler Myers deal?

Looking at GvA/TkA our worst is Hamhuis at -21...Bieksa is worse at -23...Myers is -33 so yes it is ugly...Im not that high on Tanev because i believe he is not as good as seems...I would say Hamhuis is more so the reason his stats are great so putting Myers with him and now we have a giant paired with a very good defensive defence man

Gudbranson might be a healthy scratch tonight? Hallelujah!!!

I guess that depends on how he does the next 3 months, but he's been trending up according to our Utica sources here. If he keeps improving I don't see why he'd be let go. I don't envision us going into next season with all of the NHL D we have right now, including Larsen. Hope he's alright, but Pedan might be worth keeping over him at the moment.
-
This is it if Canucks don't lose in regulation tonight I will lose all faith in this franchise's future they must ensure a top 5 protected selection.
Let's go Lucic and McDavid

@Brad Marchand It is stressful that's part of the reason I felt like cutting back on the Canucks and the NHL in general. The Eagles atleast are moving in the right direction had a great offseason so far. A great draft and we are talking legit playoff potential something the Canucks can only dream of right now.

At what age is it no longer acceptable to engage in "gaming"?
- Show previous comments 18 more

I stopped gaming a long time ago. I found that it sucked up too much of my time and I was a completionist so the trophies and the easter eggs, I had to have everything. So I gave it up cold turkey and decided that I wanted to do more with my life than chase pixelated achievements. But I won't judge anyone else who enjoys it. You only live the one life, how you choose to spend it is your business and no one else's.
-
I think a lot of it depends on how successful you are in life. If you have a good job and social life and you are honestly happy with devoting hours of your life to play games instead of other things then it is fine.
For me it's a guilty pleasure though. Just when you think you are out it sucks you back in. I can see why it is so controversial now too though.
The gaming options these days are virtually limitless. You can play with anyone, anytime, anywhere.
You can play on your console, desktop/laptop, tablet, phone, portable gaming system. The graphics, the story, all adds to the realism and immersive experience.
If I had these many options as the teenagers and kids do these days I would be a hardcore video game addict!!!

@Chip Kelly Geez Chippy, a couple minuses on a message board getting you all riled up? You post on the message boards all day every day. I can't help but see your posts scattered about and I don't agree with most of what you're spewing. Post some better content and you'll get fewer minuses.
-
@King Heffy LOL give me all the minuses you like, my rep on CDC message boards isn't my primary source of pride and joy in life..... like it is for Chipster @Chip Kelly

@Cramarossa if you want to attract clientele and especially ones with deep pockets, you will have to make sure that you keep the establishment in top shape. Its like that with just about any bar, this one just has naked women walking around.
-
@Chip Kelly what are your thoughts sir?
-
I really feel the only way the Canucks will mess this draft up is if Villardi, Mittelstadt, or Glass are not wearing a Canucks jersey next Friday afternoon.
-
Are you really buying this Makar and Glass hype by Button? Calling one a 1st line center in conversation with Hischier and Patrick and the other an elite potential d man...
Benning?

@S'all Good Man There's also the chance that he decides to stick around in college and goes elsewhere when he decides to sign.
-
I really think Quinn Hughes is going to be a 40 point a year dman in the NHL in 4 years time. Other than his defensive game, size, and left hand shot I don't see why you would go with Bouchard or Dobson who are the "safer" picks but don't have Hughes skating or puck skills and flashiness.
I see a mix of Nick Leddy and Shayne Gostisbehere when I watch his game.
- Show previous comments 15 more
-
I've mentioned this in the Draft Threads, but I think Quinn Hughes is a better skating Brian Rafalski. Thats a 40-60 point dman for a good 10 years. If we can get a player like that, who would complain? I might just have an affection for him because I've seen Michigan a bunch of times this year, but he is my 2nd fav player in the draft behind Dahlin
-
@Chip Kelly I wouldn't stress over Wahlstrom staying in school for all 4 years and then dipping when he is F/A eligible. Harvard is a fantastic school, but so are Northeastern, Boston College, Boston University, and Notre Dame. How often do guys that go to those schools stick for 4 years? He can always go back and finish his degree in the summers or after he retires. Also I think knowing what his major is could help in making a prediction of how long he will stay at school
-
@Rounoush I'd argue Canucks have that crease clearer named Gudbranson. Skilled puck moving d who can skate and have a legit high offensive ceiling are hard to find more valuable right now imo than a pure defensive Tanev or 2 way type like Edler. Hughes brings the game the Canucks have lacked on d since Ehrhoff left town.

Yeah I still say one or both of Virt or McCann will be in Utica. Not showing a lot of NHL readiness down the stretch. Perhaps McCann would show more if given better linemates/minutes, but his strength isn't there. I've missed the last 2 games, but he's appeared to be a spaghetti noodle on skates at times this season.
High hopes for both, reasonable expectations though. And they start with proper development. To bad they each of them couldn't have been there this year. Stupid birthdays. Stupid CHL rules.

BOYCOTT THE CANUCKS UNTIL THEY MAKE CHANGES. If you keep watching you are just a SUCKER FOR PAIN!!

Well I can stomach a rebuild personally because I am now emotionally detached from the team and players. I don't get upset anymore because whether the fans are positive or negative it really doesn't matter. What matters is that they still care whether they are impatient or patient.
Apathy is much worse than negativity and I am much closer to the former than the latter.
-
Do people really believe the Vancouver Canucks have a top 10 prospect pool in the NHL? 2017 draft looks like a homerun while 2016 other than Juolevi looks real bad.
This concerns me. 2014 bad draft 2015 good draft. 2016 bad draft. 2017 good draft. If the pattern continues the Canucks 2018 draft will be meh at best or at worst they will whiff.

@Chip Kelly normally you’d be right, except Tryamkin’s already implied if not stated that he’ll try Vancouver again after his contract is up. It seems his problem was more with coaching than anything.
-
@thejazz97 Do you have a source for the info or is this just speculation? His last Russian translation interview he didn't seem interested in the city or opportunity.
-
Krejci for Edler or nah?
- Show previous comments 12 more
-
Exactly. We just signed a free one in Eriksson (a winger, but not the point), why move Edler for anything but the potential replacement of what McCann was destined to be, and if said player is too young to show exactly that, then picks.
Or keep him. Honeslty, Edler is the best guy to move. Decent contract, decent top 4 dman. We can do better than a Krejci's 30-36.
Pass.
-
@Green Building I think Sutter could score 20 goals as a winger with Horvat or another good playmaker as his center man like the Henrik Sedin. He has a decent wrist shot and good speed coming down the right wing position. With further thought I agree with you on Krejci his cap hit even if Boston retained some in a trade package would probably not be worth the cost to acquire him. The CNhcks do need to get another center with a minimum second line upside and winger these next two drafts or via trade if possible. Need guys to replace Shinkaruk and McCann as potential top six guys. Can't expect the Sedins to still produce as first liners for another 4 years can they?
-
Looking like Chicago and New York in the finals.
-
What a joke today by Benning and Co wrestling over Ruutu and Skille as the 13th forward and missed out on skill replacements to step in while Rodin is out in Pulky and Parenteau.
Waivers,Trade deadline, or free agency the management never exceeds expectations.
- Show previous comments 11 more
-
@Green Building I would have preferred Parenteau on the second line over Virtanen who didn't earn it.
But whatever I guess. I over it.
OK great you want Skille that's fine I get he is just a grinder vs Parenteau who is a skill guy, but you already have Burrows and Guance, Dorsett etc all grinders currently at their respective career stages. Hansen is a third liner without the Sedins it's fair to question how much offence he can provide.
My main beef is people worrying about who makes the team on the 4th line and 13th forward spots and being tough to play against.
It's like everyone forgot this team still doesn't have enough speed or skill in the top six to generate offensively to over run the roster with bangers and defensive grinders.
People talk up Guance like he is gonna be the difference in making the playoffs!
Maybe the Canucks should just admit they have less talent than anybody else in the West and bring up Labate and Pedan waive Larsen and send down Guance or Virtanen whoever is hitting less and just goon it up.
-
disagree with you saying we wont have any skill in offense this yr.
Sutter healthy could net us 15-20 goals as well as hansen, eriksson could chip in 30. baertchi and horvat could hit 20. Just because everyone in media says we are gonna be so bad doesnt mean its true our dcorp is way better with guddy, hutton, tryamkin wait to see oilers and leafs be bottom barrel teams as usual
-
Benning compared Wahlstrom to Brock Boeser play style wise. I really truely think Wahlstrom is the safest and best pick for the Canucks. He has NHL size, skating, and shot already. I haven't seen an obvious weakness in his game anybody has mentioned out there. If he checks out personality wise he fits perfect on this team. He should be NHL ready after 2 seasons fine tuning and working on the small details of his game.

@Ghostsof1915 Not Juolevi. He'll be too busy gaming.

Agreed! K'Andre would be a great option. Big body, great mobility, good passing, underrated shot, can quarter back a PP.

I guess it depends which item it is off the menu. The fries are soggy and unedible once they get cold.
I like McDonalds breakfast items but that's about it.
I rather have Vera's or A and W or Wendy's.

Look at Virtanen here what a difference!!!

"Yeah you know me... take a 0-2 and make it 0-3" Thanks Drake for pissing off the opposing team. I feel like he hurts the team more than helps has a player ever said they want to play up North with customs, taxes, and less media exposure because of Drake? Wasn't that the whole point? The Raptors have the best bench in the league yet they don't have any real superstars.

@Chip Kelly Nah both are some of the best players in the world. Ask any non bias NBA fan. You can't say they're "good" regular season players. Disrespecting what they have done for the Raptors.

Casey wins Coach of the Year: https://www.tsn.ca/casey-named-2018-nbca-coach-of-the-year-1.1080330 . Apparently, they wanted to give that award and the Executive of the Year to Lebron but he wasn't quite eligible.
-
@ItsMillerTime They are part of the reason the Raptors are relevant. But Lowry is 32, Ibaka is not what he once was in OKC. DeRozan is not a #1 or #2 option on a potential contender. Just have to be real about that. Not saying they are not good. But you have to be GREAT in big games to go from all stars to true superstars.
