@RRypien37 Jesus 4000 calories a day? Meh, i don't think I can take all that in but 2500 calories wouldn't be out of reach for me. Intaking my carbs while cutting down on the sugar and upping my fat and protein in those 2500 calories will do.

GStank29. WRONG ANSWER. If Noah Hanifin played in a beer league, he'd be getting 300 points in a season and getting drafted in the exact same spot he is now.

When you go out and say things like you would only play for certain teams (I'm not making any nods to Demko right now, because nothing has been said in those terms, and the situation right now seems to be quite similar to the Jordan Subban one) that starts to raise issues about your character and attitude, not just about your play and if you can compete. That starts to bleed into high level pressure and mental toughness, as well as psychological skills training and reasons why you would not consider playing your best in any and all situations - if he didn't get the contract that he wanted and just took the offer that came to him.

    4. Green Building

      Green Building

@S N Y P E R S 7 You mean in Van or in the league overall? The way the league is so competitive every year, and with how the draft is becoming the new TDL and whatnot, I'd imagine teams would be willing to gamble a contract spot on someone that shows promise.

I mean if guys like Kassian can get more chances in this league...

I think we have 48 contracts of the 50 allowed, maybe after the trade deadline

  7. Broberg's skating on full display today at the U18s, Soderstrom's decision-making and responsibility on display too. While Soda isn't as dynamic a skater, his all around game is much better. Depends on what you want - an elite offensive guy in Broberg, or someone who can play D, chip in offensively, and do everything well but not one thing to an outstanding degree.

I'm really hoping Broberg falls to the Canucks.

    3. CRAZY_4_NAZZY

      CRAZY_4_NAZZY

One complaint scouts have on Broberg is despite his offensive skills, he often lacks decision making in his own zone  and is prone to turnovers.  Reminds me when Luca Sbisa was first touted in his draft year in 08, good offensive skills but has issues exiting his own zone.  Soderstrom on the other hand is far more superior in that area, but doesn't have offensive flare like Broberg.

Considering that moving the puck and making decisions in the defensive zone is what has hampered us for a while, I'm more inclined to go the safer pick and take Soderstrom.  He may be small, but Craig Button and Cam Robinson scouts on Vancouver Radio have said that Soderstrom plays bigger than his actual size and is far more engaged in his own zone than Broberg is.

      S N Y P E R S 7

Both exciting offensive guys and safe guys, defenseman-wise, are really difficult to find in free agency or trades. Can't really go wrong with either through the draft.

    4. hammertime

      hammertime

I honestly don't think you get much maybe a 3rd to clear some cap. His contract is pretty fair value I don't think you trade a whole lot for "fair value" or it ceases to be fair value.

  9. Pierre-Luc Dubois is going to be an elite winger. Last time I checked the Canucks were pretty shallow on the left side. Last time I checked was right after the trade-that-shall-not-be-named. The gremlin trade.

If he makes it to the second, he might just be the most valuable player available. Complete package: size, compete, skill, and character. Currently playing at the U18s, so keep an eye on him there.

Big powerful player who uses his size to protect the puck. He has a shot first mentionality and like Virtanen, and has a quick heavy shot. As far as his Vision goes he seems to be more patient with the puck and looks to make plays (that one play in the WJC really stands out) his assist totals, IMO have nothing to do with his hockey IQ/vision but is more an indication of the fact that his line mates look to feed him the puck in high percentage areas.

The only real difference that i've seen is that Virtanen has an explosive first two steps with Gauthier doesn't

    3. S N Y P E R S 7

      S N Y P E R S 7

I think Chych's trying to do a little too much. He just needs to simplify his game and stop bearing it upon himself to get everything done in all three zones.
What I see from Chychrun is a little bit of hesitation (and then irrational action) strong-rooted in the fact that he doesn't know the guys around him that well, and therefore he doesn't trust them as much? He isn't making the players around him better, but I think he has the potential to do that.

    4. smithers joe

      smithers joe

d-men take longer to develop but unless your positive chychrun is going to be a top pairing d-man then i'ld go for a d-man in the second round....if we get a chance to get a #1 line forward, my choice would be to go that route...with boeser, horvat, virtanen, rodin, baertschi and mccann, laine would fit so nice.....even tkachuk or dubois...both could be at least 2nd line players...

i would like to see benning pick up a d-man with nhl experience...

Does anybody think someone can be a bad sport because they're not competitive enough? They're taking everything too lightly, and not really playing the game - rather relying on referee calls and complaining on small things

Taking everything lightly could be if the player isn't doing everything he can to win. It's why people/teams get in trouble for tanking
