I should know better than to engage you, given you're......you know.  It's a good thing for contract negotiations is all I'm saying.  He won't be getting a big pay day on this contract.

If Pete wants 12m when the time comes and someone wants to pay us a McDavidesque package along the lines of 2 firsts + a first liner and a top pairing D for Pete I'd say bye bye Pete its been fun. I would like to think however that he will take a reasonable contract and want to stay with the Canucks and win our first CUP!!!!

I have to say after all the luck at the LOTTO DRAFT,4 (COUNT EM)4 -1OA picks in the last 10 years,a 3OA pick in Leon D. and they get the so called best player in the league with Mc Jesus. They have not faired to well,BOO HOO for Edmonton,

I just love to see certain teams lose and get hammered and of course Edmonton is one of those teams, the Leafs as well think they are going places just to see themselves get hammered by non playoff teams ,man I love that.

The Canucks should be the team to bring the STANLEY CUP back to Canada,it would be epic and B.C. deserves it,the whole province would really enjoy that,

I KNOW I SURE WILL.

Pettersson will likely cost us McDavid money.....BUT, I do believe that we have a small chance of getting EP to agree to a hometown discount if the following conditions are met:

1) We don’t sign any UFA’s to a 10+ million dollar deal.  Stay away from guys like Panarin and Karlsson.  If you pay those guys big money to come here, then the rest of our upcoming RFA core (Boeser, Pettersson, Hughes) will want to be paid at a premium as well.

2) Boeser demonstrates leadership by taking a hometown discount.  As to what this “discount” would entail, I’m not sure.  However - I think of Boeser shows leadership here and demonstrates that he cares more about building a winner than making money, I think this could pave the way.  Guys like Mark Schiefele and Victor Hedman are examples of players that took pretty big discounts.

My hope is is that we can get guys like Boeser, Pettersson, and Hughes to sign between 8-8.8 million AAV.   It’s likely not a realistic goal, but you never know.

When teams like Chicago and LA won multiple cups between 2010-2015, their core players had relatively low AAV’s.

boeser probably going to get 2x6.7m bridge.

pettersson probably going to be over 10m

hughes, no one knows

I feel sorry for the league that their best player plays in Edmonton.

I keep hearing this and respectfully disagree. Sidney Crosby (and I have never been a big fan of his) , based on his body of work is the best player of this millennium. Add to the stats below: THREE Stanley Cups, TWO Conn Smythes, TWO Ted Lindsays (+1 L.B. Pearson which was renamed the Ted Lindsay), TWO Art Rosses, TWO Harts, TWO Rocket Richards, and ONE Mark Messier. The guy is 31 years old, has 93 points and is playing  an average of 20:54 per night. On top of that, Crosby's ability to make the players around him better, to me, is what sets him apart. I don't see that element in McDavid's game. Connor is a helluva player, but he has a long way to go to approach Crosby status. Winning when it counts and getting his team to the playoffs would be a start.

Really, you want to turn this into a debate about which is the best player in the league.

It was a silly thread that I posted a silly post in. Don’t want to debate this. I agree though Sid is awesome but hard to compare a vet to a young guy for success especially when Sid has been on a team that has Malkin and decent management. If Sid has been saddled with Chia his record wouldn’t be as good.  Not to diminish how good a player he is but man McDavid is fun to watch.

Not at all. Just expressing an opinion. And providing statistical backup so that people wouldn't think I was talking out of my butt. Not worth an argument or even a debate.

Honestly all this Canadians hating Canadian teams is making me sick.

We should stand up for one another and channel our hate towards scum bag cities like Chicago, Pittsburgh, all of California, etc.

I loled at the post nonetheless tho lol

I don't consider teams "Canadian" or not to be truthful.  I mean, the rosters tell us all teams generally have Canadians playing.

I, for one, can/will never cheer for Toronto, Edmonton or Calgary.  I tend to support teams based on the players I like/don't, not the rink they play out of.
