What the hell is this about? What kind of draconian measure is this and how does this align in any way with social distancing?

I know right? apparently transport Canada has imposed it. Horgan said he was gonna push back, guess he didn't?

For days now I’ve been watching US election coverage , seeing huge crowds everywhere and more sidearms than masks, they’re on the verge of a record Covid explosion like they’ve never seen.

Yeah the block parties that are occuring now are probably a bad idea in the covid sense

Still. I don’t get it. I used to travel in Washington quite a bit and would use the ferry system there. Even during the height of post 911 paranoia, you could stay in your car.

The RCMP forcing people out of their cars makes zero sense and, in fact, lessens social distancing.

Health Canada is a farce.

But that's what KOS wants.

Apparently he thinks all level of governments are just awash in cash just waiting to hire extra police and bylaw officers to make people wear masks.

The sad part is we're only as good as our worst part of society. And that's pretty clear how stupid that part is.

If government has made a mistake it's assuming everyone has common sense.

Actually its a Transport Canada regulation that you can't stay in your car.

People still have to pay bills and continue businesses.

Totally get that, and I would let that be the exception, but other than that and medical reasons.........lets get this under control

We just have to look at Ont and Quebec....and if you want that, don't change a thing

I actually agree with King of Surrey about not being consistent enough, nor tight enough, think people have to start being a little less selfish........

On the Island we are blessed so far, but it is slowly climbing........I feel afraid for the people in the lower mainland.........

IMO, we have about 3 to 4 months to hunker down, and I am hoping we are finished with this, but the next few months could be bad

I’ve stayed in my car on a ferry trip before. None of the guidelines relate to Covid, rather the risk for fire or flood.

Still seems fishy to me. No pun intended.

So they now say I can't take my kids to visit the grandparents eventhough we only interact with each other outside of the general work /grocery shopping. Pretty much they are the only social contacts we have had for months but now it's not allowed..... Well guess we are going to whitespot or browns to sit across a table and be even closer to each other than we are in a house where we can easily spread out wider....

Guys...it's two weeks, not indefinite.

Going "out" to socialize isn't what they're approving from what I gather (but it is confusing).  They can regulate what happens in establishments but people were not following those same guidelines at home...that's the issue.  In a restaurant, you have to social distance, etc.  At home, people were ignoring all of it and some Grandparents died as a result!

Bottom line is...change it up for a couple of weeks in order to see the numbers go back down.  It won't kill us to do that but if we don't...

On the news they just stated that the restriction for two weeks is no one in your home beyond those who live in the household.  I'd imagine there MAY be exceptions but ???

It definitely isn't clearly laid out...which is problematic.

I get it though...they have to do SOMETHING and tried for the path of least resistance, that wasn't working.  Sad thing is idiots who just want to party are the biggest problem...no self restraint, no patience.  While the rest of us make sacrifices to keep this thing at bay, they keep shoving it down everyone's throats.

So the bad apples ruin it for the rest of us.

At this point, I think they're still striving for the least amount of disruption in order to contain this.  But will it work or will it just be more of the same?

None of us want a total lockdown but that's what we're heading for if the Granville group of yeeha'ers and other naysayer supermen/women don't get their acts together.  It ends up messing with the rest of us who are being compliant and careful.

Ok I have a question.

I'm not my sons custodial parent, he comes to my house 3 weekends a month court ordered.

Is he still allowed at my house next week? Because his custodial home is not mine.

Which order takes priority? The provincial health order or a provincial family court order?

Cause I'm picking my son up regardless and I hope his mom isnt difficult about it...

Not really.

People shouldn't be there unless essential.  And following the guidelines that many "drop" when at home.

Pretty sure next weekend metro town will be as packed as usual.....   Since people can't visit each others homes.... now everyone will be heading to the mall to hang out and visit...     Sad that is how people will see these conflicting restrictions.

From CBC:

Quote

Residents of the two affected health regions are being told not to engage in social interactions outside their immediate households. Weddings and funerals can proceed, as long as they include only immediate household members.

She said people who live alone can maintain a small bubble of one to two people, but that advice does not apply to people who live in a larger household.

We should be using our common sense.  Nothing is written in stone but how we go from here could dictate if things get written in stone.

@10pavelbure96I'd say that's between you and the mother.  If everyone is following the guidelines I don't see why this would supersede custody orders.

@I.Am.Ironman Slighty trickier situation.  I'm assuming the specialist appointment is fairly essential I wouldn't change plans.  But, like Deb posted above, if both households are small and everyone is hunkering down, it shouldn't be a problem.  Risk of rapid spread will be low.

Personally, my before and after school care shutdown in September due to Covid concerns mainly.  Now, we have someone come in on the days it's needed.  That's essential for us.  But once again, if we're hunkering down and keeping things minimal for the next few weeks, risk for spread is very low.

Common sense.  If we all do this, the numbers will go down.
