I’ve made a couple trips to the grocery store very close to my house. Try to maintain a safe distance and peak hours.

Does anyone have any tips on keeping fruit, vegetables and steaks as fresh as possible without freezing?

Do you have any food vacuuming device? I have a FoodSaver and it keeps many refrigerated foods fresh on almost a 1-day to 1-week ratio

I loath canned stuff BUT it might not be a bad idea to grab a few canned fruit/veggies (that is, if you can find them).

Took me about 3 years but I just finished up the Wheel of Time series... pretty decent if you're into Tolkien style fiction.

*Losing.  If we're going to be experts, let's properly word things.

You sound like my boss...rationalizing away the fact that we're all vulnerable and no one or place is immune - that dangerous thinking of yours is part of the problem.

You need to understand the fear and panic as it's warranted.  If most of the world is feeling it but you're not?  I wonder who's got it wrong.

You can hide your head because "money" and, in the end, this will take MUCH longer to address and be more of a burden than taking this seriously and acting with extreme measures for, hopefully, a shorter amount of time.  This thing is for real...do what's necessary or let it completely blow up.  Which do you think will cost us more in the end?

Here's perspective.

Enjoy the panic and hysteria.  Panic is never a good solution to anything, ever...

So you say, but the Government of Canada estimates 30-70% of Canadian citizens will get the virus.

Who to believe

1 anonymous poster on web

2 the government of Canada.

Not a tough decision, for me anyway.

You got me their margin of error is only 15M people.  The know exactly what is going to happen 100%.  When your margin of error is 15M, you don't have a clue.

I just finished White Noise by Don Delillo, which is also appropriate for what's happening (very, very good book).

Another good one is The Plague by Albert Camus.

There's a difference between hysteria and planning for the worst.

Most people I've talked to here and elsewhere who are expecting the worst are not panicking. They're being cautious and preparing themselves and their families for the long haul. That seems more smart than hysteric to me.

The toilet paper runs and food hoarding is not planning.  Its hysteria.

Since Martial law etc. is being enforced around the world, we should do that here as well. If anyone repeatedly spreads misinformation or downplays it too much, they should be banned for a while. If they continue, perma ban. The cull the herd idiots should be instantly banned!!

Yeah for sure, but who on this board is doing that? Why direct that sentiment here? You can't equate every person who is dealing with this situation cautiously here with the hoarders you see in the news. That's unfair to point that at every person who is just trying to stay safe.

rather then having this spat about guesswork regarding canada's handling of this situation,

and so far

no matter what you or anyone else may believe

stats regarding canada are fairly good and reasonably acceptable in this time of crisis,

how about pivoting and focusing on ny state and nyc

that is where the real epicentre of concern should be

your approach appears to trivialize what is going on in a part of your country

don't worry about us so much here

we think we have things reasonably well in hand

nothing you can point to persuades me otherwise

on the other hand

your state has had problems much more significant then bc

i am impressed with how wa state has managed the situation there

given the constraints they had to deal with from your government in washington

ny state is at a whole other level (7% of global cases now)

tell us some things about that situation please

It is obvious that some one doesn't have a clue, however I'm sure it isn't me.
