Cant be done unless they take loui.

Can be done, there will be a lot of maneuvering over the summer. Its possible that Loui gets moved as part of a package, more likely that he's bought out.

There are very few guys that the Canucks won't explore trading right now.

I would be more then hyped to land Johnson or lysell ,

both players I feel could be another steal for us .

Lysell,Petterson,Hoglander

Podkolzin, Miller , Boeser

deadly top 6

with Pearson, Horvat , ???

As a third line

Johnson would be great too but since Lysell is already playing in the SHL at the age of 18 I think he would be ready to step in sooner. following the same path as hoglander.

one more year after getting drafted in the SHL then making the team the following season

Johnson is a pp specialist, not sure his game will translate to the NHL.

Scouching had a deep dive into his numbers and they seem highly one dimensional which is a liability at center,

respect your opinion on Johnson.

Let's watch this video and pay close attention to the first goal in the video at 0.30 minutes into the video.

I can tell you:

This is NHL like, this is how the best NHL wingers score goals in the NHL, this is Kirill Kaprizov like.

This move from Johnson can't be defended even the best D-Man in the NHL would struggle to defend this move. Only thing they can do is draw a interference penalty if they anticipate Johnson's move early and position themselves more to the outside.

Wheeler has a draft prediction up for The Athletic (paywall) and based on the conversations he's had, he believes that the Canucks' order of preference at 9 is Johnson, Eklund and then McTavish.

Pronman says the scouting industry has a top-tiers of 9 players.  Benning did say they liked 9 players.

Benning believes the contender window truly opens in 2 seasons.    That 9th overall pick could be part of that contender window.  Dumba is only under contract for 2 years.  Don't really see why they would trade for someone who could be a 2 year rental.   His contract would be up at the same time as Horvat, Miller, Höglander.

Dumba is also not the best fit.  Vancouver has troubles defending and he needs a solid D partner to cover for him.  Tracking companies like Sportlogiq and CSA had Vancouver pretty much as the worst defensive team before even the Covid outbreak.  Last season already they were in the bottom tiers.

That’s if, he still has a job in 2 years. I really doubt he’ll still be here if we happen to miss the playoffs again, this upcoming season. Especially if fans are allowed back into the arena.

It might not be the correct move, but to save his job, he should make this pick available.

For sure the pick (and our second and third) is available.  But Benning isn’t going to make a deal that hurts the club’s rebuild.
