Just an educated guess here. The NBA jerseys sold in stores don't have the ad patches the player jerseys do. I assume the NHL would be the same.

Either way it's funny to see people get outraged over a tiny patch on a jersey that you won't notice during play.

It's not like the Canucks logo is being replaced by a massive "VISIT RWANDA" ad on the players chests.

LOL hilarious indeed, people have paid (wasted) hundreds and thousands of dollars for crap jerseys in the past and a little logo has them all pissy now. Way to take a stand.

That's a game I'd like to see played - badminton players on ice skates with six players a side, and 30-90 second shifts complete with power plays and shootouts.

At least then when someone makes the inevitable shuttlecock joke (hmmm I wonder if that will pass the CDC censor as a real word... lol) on live TV, nobody will have grounds to be offended.

But yes, that does sound somewhat entertaining. Particularly shootout badminton.

Suitable Ads done well can help cement a team and time. The Newcastle Brown Ale sponsorship on the NUFC top in the 90s screams the entertainers era. It’s synonymous with it. That said the current ones for newcastle are just bad.

tbh it was only a matter of time and once it’s there it will only get bigger

it really is a first world problem, especially that the jerseys will be sold in the stores without ads, but god i just wish the players would make a stand against this and refuse to play until the owners back up or whatever. it just sucks that money talks and corporates can do whatever they want and there's no pushback.

i just wanted the jerseys to remain this one little sacred thing, like that's the limit. but no, corporates win in the end. and from here it's a slippery slope. the number of ads will only increase, not decrease, we can be sure of that. you either say no to ads on jerseys, or there's always gonna be some blank space on the jerseys to put another logo on it to squeeze out a few extra bucks.... and don't tell me they don't make enough money already, the boards and ice are plastered with ads, so it's all about greed... so &^@# 'em, this is disgusting.

Edit: and look, i'm not a complete moron. i'm well aware that since the NHL was founded in 1917, it was about money from day one. It is a business not a charity organization. Always has been, always will be. But up until now the NHL at least had this one little moral victory: that the jersey is an exception. and that's my main point here: that there was sth above all this, that sth is still bigger than money or even the league itself. well, not anymore.

Based on his outrageous comments a decade or so ago and current fact he is now a senior statesman in the league, I hope Viagra sponsors the Panthers as Thornton needs that on his jersey.

The fans are the true bosses.

These greedy owners need a wake up.

I used to tolerate wearing my Whitecaps t-shirts despite the giant Bell logo. Then Bell just destroyed a radio station that I enjoyed, putting people out of jobs without care.

I used to go to the game and stand with the Southsiders.  I haven't watched in the last year, even on telly. Partially cause they suck, but the Bell issue was  the little extra push I needed. I  enjoy my free time I used to use watching Kerfoot's gang.

I wonder when the Rogers logo will replace the Orca? I suppose some around here might be happy.

Good to know advertisements, and not the incessant losing on the ice and frequent mismanagement of the team, is where some fans draw the line on supporting the sport.

Makes you wonder...

Yeah, It's way worse.

I'd rather lose forever than have some of the corporations I hate on my team's sweaters.

I'm so surprised at some peoples take on this.

I suppose it's that I'm the kind of guy that doesn't wear logo's much at all. I try to have them removed from my vehicles as well.

I don't advertise for anyone for free and I wont support corporations that suck.

I do enjoy a giggle now and again at some folk driving around in nice fancy cars with their license plate holders displaying the used car lot they purchased it at. Switch that sh&t out so I might think you're a baller.

I don't think it would look too bad if it's something simple like this:

Personally, it's still too much of a foul to me. I can live with a single small ad on the helmets, but I feel like the jerseys are too far. Also, there's the slippery slope case which I think is legitimate.
