He needs jail time.

Yes, stick him with a bunch of the worst people in our society for months/years. That will surely improve the situation. <_<

Prison is one of the most counterproductive institutes we have. Not sure what the answer here is, but there's gotta be something better than that.

I hate that we focus on "him" though.  If it makes HER feel better knowing he's there, then that's more important.

I agree with trying to rehabilitate people....but not at the expense of their victims, who deserve justice.

I agree that the victim has been very poorly served by the courts and Hockey USA, I

I believe the concept of rehabilitation should include the victim, (not because she is at fault, because she deserves a good life)

She was very young at the time of the offense, she is still young

A worse travesty than the original attack would be to let her live the rest of her life filled with hate.

I have yet to see any stats that indicate that jail time for the victim is actually beneficial to the victim.

We often see the victims of similar (loosely similar) situations focusing on whether the perpetrator gets appropriate sentence

But I wonder if the desire for jail sentence is actually a placebo for real justice and healing?

In this case, this issue has been with the victim for almost 1/2 her life

She may have been hoping for jail sentence for longer than she can really remember

It is entirely possible that if Boucher got jail time the victim would then focus her life to keeping him there, a real waste of her life.

Jail sentence if this case seems to be as useful as giving wounded military a large sum of cash when they are suffering PTSD

( the victim in this case likely is suffering PTSD)

I am not defending the current sentence, I feel the victim has been underserved,

In my view this situation is very similar to the Kyle Beach story, in that the governing body, be it the Black Hawks or Hockey USA has swept the incident under the rug and allowed the perpetrator to move on for a long time.

Heads should roll at hockey USA, and the billitting agency

Yikes. Hope he's matured a lot since then.

Hope he has matured?! You are taught how to treat girls with respect all the time growing up during pre school and primary age if you have good parents and a normal upbringing and then it is reinforced in school.

Maturity is no excuse at all. We are talking about a 17 year old going on 18 able to drive a car by himself!!

He must have been looking at some really messed up kiddie weird incest porn and getting into some really bad $&!# or he himself was molested by a family member growing up for his brain to be so messed up that early! For him to force a little girl to have to give him oral sex and then blackmail her so she doesn't tell anyone is bonafide sexual predator behavior.

He should be locked up and forced to forfeit his salary and suffer the fate the inmates give to child molesters, pedos and rapists in jails!!!

This team employed Leipsic, Virtanen, and Boucher all at once.

Oh, and they're interviewing Sean Burke..

Disgusting.

I believe working in the NHL in any big capacity (GM, player, Coach) is a huge privilege and people who beat their spouses, at any point in their life, don't deserve this privilege.

This wasn't an isolated incident. He did beat her multiple times. And worst of all, Burke was playing for Rutherford (Rutherford was GM of the Hurricanes, at the time) when this incident went down and the team chose not to suspend him during the incident.

Sure, he plead guilty and did the classes. Still doesn't dismiss the fact that people have lost more opportunity for doing less.

How come Boucher wasn’t tried as an adult?  He was 17.  He raped a 12 year old.

The law I guess is 18. DOesn't change the fact that he is a sick bastard. If anything bad happens to him at some point in his life the bad karma will be fully deserved ...

Isn't Boucher the father of a young daughter? Yikes, I hope his wife and child(ren) are safe.

I am sure his wife won't leave him unless his behavior was or becomes more erratic.

He is making good money. Other than not directly apologizing to the victim or making a public statement he keeps his nose clean we are lead to believe.

Then again he is in shady Russia where they probably look past these kind of details if you are a famous Russian hockey league star player who won a championship coming over as a foreigner.

Reason 1 - He isn't black

Reason 2 - Justice system are a bunch of clowns. Rape is so overlooked by them its no wonder women dont come forward about their assault. Its a damn shame.

I dont wish ill will on many, but my god I hope someone gets their hands on that scumbag and puts him in a wheelchair or worse. Sorry, but rapists/pedos are 1 think that I really cant stand, and im all for executing every last 1 of the sick bastards. The judges and lawyers that look past it should be buried with them!

Maybe "mature" isn't the correct word. What I mean to say is that I hope he's changed since then and has realized how selfish and stupid he was.

My thoughts are with the victim and her emotional welfare.

I hope this young woman and the people who love her, especially her parents can find healing and a measure of peace in their lives.

My heart goes out to her and them.

Not sure how a victim of any sexual assault feels, don't think anyone really does, unless they've been in the situation, but I feel a jail sentence would be some sort of closure for the victim in that they can see society is believing in them, and understands, what they are going through...

How a victim moves on from this nobody knows, but of course this will involve lots of help rebuilding her life...

I can just imagine, the feeling of being told, yes we feel for you, and it terrible, so we told him and that's it??? Not sure that would do much but build up anger and hatred...

Also, her familys anger and grief over, what happened to their daughter, while opening their doors to a young man.

I would have been livid, if it would have happened to my daughter... Some how I think they will also need some sort of closure...
