canuckislander
I think waiting another 3 seasons would be ideal if he can just play relatively OK. However, going ahead with the buyout after another 2 more seasons could work out fine as well and the most likely scenario. 3.5m savings in cap for his final 2 seasons and then only a penalty of 1.5m x 2years

Would be a lot easier to find a solid shut down top 4 LHD. Thoughts? That defense looks worse than some AHL teams. Coconuts
Gonna have to pay someone to play, may as well be him. If we're going to consider a buyout it'd likely be further down the road imo. 3

Even with OEL on the defense, that would like create more flexibility to balance out the line up. With that being said, any Bo or Miller trade would need to bring back a center asset (young player, prospect, or high draft pick)

I am thinking about Rathbone and Burroughs full time and Brisebous and Juulsen as 7-8 suddenly I am feeling a little queasy also, Schenn is not signing for $1M next year 1

You could absorb losing Miller, but losing Horvat will set this team back a decade and that’ll be goodbye Petey, goodbye Hughes etc etc. I don’t know how people can be so short sighted Edited December 8, 2022 by stawns 1 4

Angry Goose
He’s been inconsistent to pretty bad at times. Sometimes good. Early in the season it was the Tyler Myers show so I dont put a ton of stock in that. Lately it has been individual errors but Im hoping its just poor decision making that he can fix on his own. I think a good first strategy is see if u can find a solid d partner for him and hope his play improves.

I said at the time and definitely still believe he was hurt for the first month and knew he couldn’t come out of the lineup with all the other injuries. For the last two weeks he’s been their best dman

They look at stats and it shows he's tied for 2nd worst +/- on the team at -9. Some bad defensive plays lately, illustrate the problem. If you look at the league he's in the same neighbourhood as Cam Fowler. So once again. What on the team is broken? Is it the defence? Is it the defensive systems? Is the forwards not back checking enough? Is it the goaltending? Is it all the above? The real question is how do we go about fixing the problems? I don't think buying him out helps the team long term. 1

billabong
We have no dead money on the books next year for the first time in years. Let’s keep it that way as much as OEL play has been enigmatic this season, we are stuck with him BUT we do need to a succession plan for him to play a 3rd pair role more regularly () he only played 5 seconds more than stillman last night in SJ…the coaching staff is keeping him away for certain situations considering his limitations 2
