[Rumour] Canucks interested in Alexis Lafrenière

Recommended Posts

Boeser 20% retained and #11 for Laf #23 a 2024 3rd round pick and Brennan Othman or Will Cuyle

Showcase Laf like mad this year and either keep him or flip him to the habs for a 1st they'll probably acquire at some point because their GM isn't slow

Get it done.

Am I the only one who has zero interest in Laff?

No, he’s not high on my list either.  Not zero, but super low as he’s just another winger.

More of an interesting thought experiment around using him as a sweetener to take on Goodrow as our 3C.

IMO, if they trade the #11 it has to be for a 25-year old, or younger, RD to play with Hughes.

Otherwise, keep the pick

Well we did get Hronek who would be great with Hughes. The trouble is Hronek will have to babysit OEL on our second pairing.

I wonder if something a bit more simple like Boeser + a later pick for Goodrow and Lafreniere might work.

Really depends how high the Rags still are on Laf and their desperation level.

Would we pass Goodrow's 15 team M-NTC?

I like the look of your proposal if it gets us Laf but that NTC would be a stumbling block for the Rags if they want to move him

Just another winger? So are Matthew Tkachuk & Jason Robertson…

The upside is hard to ignore.

I still think our best deal this summer is with NY Rangers.  They are desperate to win and have assets we can use.

To Vancouver:

2023 23OA pick

Alexis Lafreniere

Braden Schneider

Barclay Goodrow

To NY Rangers:

2023 11OA pick

Brock Boeser

Ethan Bear

Nils Hoglander

Trade Beauvillier to Chicago, sign Barbashev, Gavrikov and Schenn and we are good to go...

Kuzmenko     Pettersson    Mikheyev

Lafreniere      Miller            Garland

Barbashev     Goodrow      Podkolzin

Joshua           Aman           Reaves

PDG

Hughes        Schneider

Gavrikov      Hronek

OEL             Myers

Hirose         Schenn

Demko     Martin

Pearson/Poolman   LTIR

$86.5 million baby...

That 4th line would be sick. Man whoooie!

I hear that - but there’s real need at C and D that needs to be addressed if we’re spending prospects / picks as the Rags aren’t looking to take on salary to offload Laf’s ELC.

I’d be down for a hockey trade like I mentioned.  Goodrow’s contract is a hard pill to swallow but he’d still be an upgrade at 3C, adds some grit and leadership to land a potential home run (and a quality LW in any case) in Laffy.

Nope.  According to Burke, all Canadian teams are on the NTC.  Hard to compete with low tax states.

Imagine being the Rangers and trading 2 young assets for a draft pick who wouldn’t make any immediate impact, a streaky player who has regressed since his second season, a RFA 4th-5th defensemen, and a prospect who hasn’t shown signs of any improvement. Just to get rid of Goodrow and take on 2m+ of cap.
