Don't agree with every move but the franchise is in a much better place than when he took over.  Most of CDC wanted him fired for taking Petey.

Gudbranson for Pearson was solid, 1st for JT Miller (fire benning was chanted) and man that turned out.  Holtby I think will be another shrewd maneuver.  His drafting has been pretty damn amazing compared to what we had prior (yes I know its not just him).  He stuck us with a bloated bottom 6, but that was the price to get people in the door of a team that looked horrible when signed, and to be fair, that bottom 6 (cap aside) looked solid in the play-ins until we met Vegas.  I believe Benning is doing a good job, not perfect, but not horrid, compared to Buffalo or Edmonton, I'm pretty happy.

@Robert Long That's true. The C depth is something to be concerned about if Sutter leaves via buy-out/trade.

Loui is such a anchor.  I wish he had the decency to tear up his deal but unfortunately we're stuck with him until  he's bought out next season.

My guess is Jims going to try one more time to move Baer for any kind of pick tomorrow, and then buy him out on Thursday. 

Canucks could have players filing for arbitration.  In that 2nd buyout window only players who were on the team at the TDL and with a cap hit of more than 4M can be bought out.  If they buy out Sutter now they might not have another way to clear cap space late in the off-season if the arbitration awards are too high.  Would think that Baertschi is a more likely buyout in this window.  They also need to have a complete roster.

I'm leader of the anti-Schaller fan club but even I have to admit he had a decent training camp.  That saved his bacon imho.

You underestimate just HOW horrible in his own end he is.  You simply don't win with a defenseman who's that much of a liability every time he sets foot on the ice.  He's finding out the hard way there's no room for him on a legitimate NHL D corps.  He was lucky Babcock didn't hold him accountable and stick him in the press box where he belonged.

I wouldn't take this useless piece of garbage on a 2-way, league minimum contract.  Other GMs were able to see just how he gifted Boston 2 separate series due to his horrid play in his own end.

@King Heffy Honestly, that trade isn't that hard to do. Most CDCers would've done it because of how straight forward it was. Get rid of a problem player and get a 1st round pick in return. We see this all the time with the proposals.

@Darkstar I would not be surprised at all to see Colorado contend for a cup next year.  Filled a lot of holes and still have the pieces to make a move for a rental if need be.

Have you seen this Avs team. Filled with young talent. Prob win the cup soon.
