John Bucyk had a summer home here and I got to meet a few Boston Bruin players years ago. I was always blown away with the size of most of these guys from the waist down. Massive legs. Even Sather was big.

Yeah, Jake's all legs and arse. That's where his power comes from for both skating and hitting.

Educate me?  on what?  How to crap on our prospects because you don't like the pick?

How to say nonsense like "I can't wait until he busts and Benning looks like a fool"

Ya no save your smarmy lessons of spite and idiocy for yourself.  We've all read them, we've all seen them.

Ya man, we've all said be patient, but up until mid year last year we were also all to a person leaning towards the well crap it didn't work out phase of his development.  If you ever read anything but your own garbage you'd be able to absorb other people's opinions without bias and see what we as a group of hockey fans were saying.

Instead you take offense at everyone who doesn't agree with you.  Continue to claim you know more than most, keep insinuating your brilliance is unmatched in the hockey world.  But to date have been made to look foolish on a regular basis and most of your posts regarding Virtanen and Juolevi have been...complete horse crap.

But meh.  You do you

BOOM! SLAP!

I am struggling to understand why Jake, who is 4th in points and 3rd in goals, can't even get on the 2nd power play unit.  LE, BL and SG are all on one of the two pp units.  What does the guy have to do to get a little love?

I'm wondering if Jake is still a bit immature, at least in TG's eyes?  Maybe (and just spit balling here) TG thinks Jake's current lack of maturity allows Jake to become complacent, when he's given a more important role?  Maybe, according to TG, Jake still has some growing-up to do?

I personally see Jake as a young (extremely gifted) player, who could get a big head if given too much of a role, and that could negatively affect his overall performance.  I could be 100% wrong too, of course.

Agreed, I think he has earned a shot there.

Forget how to hit and be worse defensively I guess. Works wonders for guys like Eriksson, Gagner, and Goldobin.

He does play on the PP, he's on the 2nd PP unit, playing RD.

I guess, get paid 6 mil, come from Green coached Portland Winterhawks, or be a PP specialist.

This was my thinking about Jake moving into a top line role too.  Maybe TG thinks Jake is not mature enough to play top six?  Jake needs to play the heavy, hard nosed game, and (maybe?) he lets top six get to his thinking?

I have a friend who lived next door to him at his summer residence and sometimes helped him with the drive back to his winter home in Boston. I never had the good fortune of meeting him in person in all the years I lived in Creston but his Boston Bruin connection left an impression on the community and is noted in the jerseys worn by the players of the Creston Valley Minor Hockey Association.

Geez Kootenay Gold you meet old Creston residents in the strangest places. John actually had a pool construction business for a number of years. Many pools in Creston are his work. I

haven't seen him for years but he still somes to Sanca each year I think.

Now I understand the full meaning of "Kootenay Gold". I worked at Columbia Brewing as a summer student.

Lived and worked in Creston for over 45 years... Think I have a pretty good idea who you are but won't reveal that on here lol. Not in Creston anymore though. Call Cranbrook home now. I enjoy most of your posts ... nice to have some thoughtful and knowledgeable contributors on here. Cheers.

yes i agree. but my point is, if he used it more it will definitely produce far better scoring options. Nothing beats a great fore check to pressure the puck out to open slots. Like i said he doesn't need to destroy every hit just has to make contact and roll off . Not just skate by allowing that D to get back in position to assist in getting the puck out if hemmed in. Hes got that power in spades i just think he should apply it more.

Yes i agree and i think that's the biggest part of maturity is know when and where to use his speed and finess then if he gets out of position here and there or on the end of a shift he can rub a guy out and send it back into the o-zone and get off the ice and not be a liability enough for a turn over for a goal either so it's both and that takes time and he has that since he's still really yound and processing it all and he'll get the hang of it the more he plays we hope right?

Surprising number of contributors on here from the Kootenays. You often hear from NHL people how small the hockey world is. I experienced that in a small way when I took my son thru minor hockey in the '90's. Travelling throughout the Kootenays for league and tournaments. You got to know people. I filled out enough game sheets to actually start to recognize names!

Coming from Creston you know how much John Bucyk did to help hockey here. He brought Bobby Hull and Bobby Orr to Creston to raise money for the Rec Center rebuild. I mentioned that I went to the 1974 WHA - Russia series in Moscow. I met Hull and mentioned I was from Creston. He didn't miss a beat and said he remembered his visit and how much he enjoyed it.

I enjoy your posts as well. Keep up the good work.!

I'm pretty sure we chatted at some of those minor hockey games as my son played in the early 90's as well but he was a few years younger than your boys.
