With 43 games remaining, how should Travis Green turn the ship around?

Its pretty amazing that at this point in the year with all the key injuries that we have about the same chance as Edmonton to make the playoffs, so really I don't see what Green could do more of... if anyone has something more to do its Dan Cloutier, he needs to get his goalies back on track, thats the only hope if anyone is still thinking playoffs.

According to Wikipedia, Travis Green won the $345,000 in poker tournaments, including events at the World Series of Poker. He had some strategies and won the tournament.

Winning the poker tournament is different from winning the hockey games. There are only 43 games remaining.

TG is missing so many pieces. (Goaltending, PK specialists, No. 1 centre. .. )

This season, Brock Boeser has been playing so well for the team. But we can't always reply on him.

JB better makes some moves to help out Travis Green.

I am afraid that the Canucks is going to be at the bottom of the in the league by the end of this season.

Your right about missing so many pieces, and under the cap the best way to get those is high draft picks.  This is another great draft with Dahlin and four or five other guys at the top of the draft that will end up stars in the league for a long time.  For me things would be better if we could add one of them to our pool to help us long term.

Right now Dahlin is already considered the best defenseman at the WJs, an NHL.com article says he could be playing in the NHL right now, he's that good, and there are some other guys already drafted that at his position killing it too which says a lot.  Pettersson is listed as one of the top three other guys so far BTW which bodes well for us too (same article).

Of course id love to see us make the playoffs, especially considering this could be it for the Sedins, but it would be even better if we could add another top prospect for our future.

Otherwise Benning would have to make some magically one way deals given who he has to work with...just not realistic.

Oh and signing Tavares would also help...but the price might not be worth it, and the timing might be off so not sure one this one.

Can't be Cloutier's fault when Marky lets in a bad one every game and Nilsson plays like a 6'0 goaltender when he's actually 6'7

no but both goalies seem to be very rattled, Dan can help with mental toughness and preparation. Nilsson is interesting to me, seems to have lost something since the baby showed up, which is pretty normal for most people. That could be why Green chose to be so blunt with him, sometimes a kick in the butt is what a person needs.

I'm not down for intentional losing, but it makes little sense to make long-term sacrifices for short-term success right now. Remain focused on the long-term for now, even if that means short-term failure.

I don't think the ship needs "turned round" Green was doing great until we had all these injuries to "big" players. Despite that I think he has still done pretty well. He hasn't gone into his shell and continues to try to play fast "in the opposition's face" skilled hockey. Because of the injuries, unfortunately we don't have the strength to get away with it nearly as often.

I'm enjoying the hockey and bar giving Green a couple of scoring defensemen and another playmaker I don't know how he could really do any better.

Get ready for the TDL and the hopefully the vets /ufas walking the plank.

That made me giggle.  Walk the plank laddies, off the corvette onto a battleship or maybe an air craft carrier.

You bet.  We need better crew, especially on defense and help with goaltending so they can win some mostly on their own more often.  I will enjoy the show in the meantime ( going to Montreal next weekend and can't wait to watch them live, no matter the score) I like this team even though it will be a lot different in two years, it's better than most since 2012.

He's lost sleep.

The "ship" is fine.  The placeholder players are doing just that.   Youth has emerged and continues to do so both in NHL and AHL/SEL/CHL.   A more competitive product has been iced.

This season, and most probably next, are about a process and have nothing to do with points so not sure what you are really getting at.  All of those "pieces" are either part of the organization and developing or will be drafted this year or next and/or traded for and/or signed.   They will have a massive amount of CAP space coming and there are some very compelling FAs out there in next season or three.

Patience.   Try it!

This ship will continue to sail along it's route for another few years before reaching the shores. We are still in middle of rebuild. We have some promising prospects but not all will make it. Some won't make the NHL and some who we think will be stars might end up being 3rd or 4th liners.

We need luck at the draft and continue to accumulate more top end prospects.

5 years to go before we are a legit contender.

I agree. Many unknowns remain to be seen. Petterson seems to be the real deal, but who knows for sure how he develops at the next level with his slight build, but he hopefully will be great. Dahlen is 20 I think. Playing in the Swedish 2nd div. Huge question mark although several here pencil him in to the 1st or 2nd line. Gadjovic is doing well at the jr level but he is like a fully grown man playing against kids right now. His skating looks iffy IMO. Hope he spends the summer skating with Bo`s trainer. We definitely have hope in the pipeline and Boeser has been lights out. Sure hope Goldy sticks and gets to show some swagger. Seems to be on a very short leash at the moment. A few more nuggets through the next couple of drafts and I hope we can be competing in 3 years rather than 5. A little luck with the lottery will not hurt one bit.
