I loudly, with my kids standing with me explained why I was using one of their free disinfectant wipes to clean the handles of the basket I grabbed at Safeway.

I loudly and very poignantly pointed out that the older couple who came in directly behind me didn't and why it was important too.

I then loudly pointed out that said couple was standing way to close to my kids in the self check out line and that people selfish enough to not even wipe the handles on their baskets shouldn't be standing near my children let alone other people.

Honestly, oldnews is right.  It's folks like that in grocery stores that will screw us all and I've no issues in calling them out

I guess to some people its all abstract until it hits them in the arse. My wife is bringing disposable gloves for the baskets and carts. Its easy if you have them, and you don't leave anything behind for anyone else.

You can go out safely if you follow the rules and use your noggin. And of course limit it to what you really need to do.

Another idea is I usually just bring my own reusable bags and use that instead of a basket.. nobody touching those but me : )

It's hard to get any kind of gloves right now (I had a few pair but they're gone).

I use the hand wipes that are provided at some stores but I don't wipe the handles, I wrap them around the handles to hold them with.  Love the stores that have them...although I'm avoiding stores as much as possible.  Do have to pop in quickly today for Dad ... cringe at the thought.

I took a hilarious pic of my boss holding a meeting with a client out in the parking lot...standing 6 feet away from each other.  At one point, both on their cells.  The new normal for awhile....

Not public news.

I did hear this from a very reliable source who is working the front lines.

However, I do disclaim again that this is not public news so believe it or not.

There's a fairly large community outbreak in North Van among the Iranian population. Lions Gate has set up a satellite site strictly for this community and anyone that's been in contact with them.

True or not (heard it from someone assigned to work at this site) it's great to hear some quick, proactive measures being taken.

For gloves try the doggy poop bags.  They are cheap, and work just fine.

And just like that

America believes in socialism

America only wants socialism when they're in a dire situation, ignoring the fact that a large portion of their populace is in a constant state of dire situations.

it just needs to be re-branded so more americans want it. Call it "choice-alism" and they'll love it.

I was thinking, it would be a great idea if stores would hand them out/sell them at the entrances.

I would really like to buy some gloves but, besides being in self isolation, I would need to go to a store to buy some....bit of a catch -22

Scary news out of California.

56% of Californians is around 25 million people.

That’s what they’re projecting for infections, in the State of California, in the next 8 weeks. :(

How many of those 25 million will not even present symptoms?  If so many people are for certain going to have the virus, then we all need to stay clear of the high risk people.

Plenty of experts are predicting anywhere from 30-70% of the population to get it. How many are asymptomatic and how many are severely affected is an intimidating topic.
