Danila Klimovich | C

It might not hurt to give Danila the "NCAA treatment" with a lot of practice/training time and less game time, at least at this stage of his career and even if he stays in the AHL.  He's still so young.

I hear what you’re saying, but there’s nothing like game time, and playing in games.

I’d rather he make mistakes in games, than just keep practicing. Need both of course, but the Abbotsford team is really more for development than anything else. Learning how to be a pro, learning how to play the right way, learning how to win, and learning at looking at the finer details of the game. Those are all things that players like Woo, and Klimovich are learning to do.

Thought it’d be better for him to play in junior this year. Unless they know for sure he’ll be getting top 6 minutes and top PP time. I didn’t think he’d beat out the top 4 wingers we had in Abbotsford so I was all for sending him down. Getting scratched multiple games isn’t good for a 19 year old kids development. Hopefully they get him back in the lineup soon.

They couldn't send him to the Q - Belarussian federation would not release his transfer list for the major junior league in North America.

Look at this as the same kind of tough love Podkolzin got in the KHL - looks like he survived it to me.

and of course they burn a year and make him waiver eligible at 21

I hope the new regime understands development

I have to say, this does not make alot of sense

I agree.  Playing alongside the kids he's grown up with, against the best in the world would be a very valuable and rewarding couple of weeks.  He would also get to enjoy his family and friends during the Xmas/New Year season.

It would be a wonderful break from the AHL and possibly a good reset for him.

The Belarus Hockey site confirms that Canucks don't let Klimovich to participate in the coming U20 world championship

Yeah that seems like a bad decision. Let the kid play in his town for his home country during a world tournament ffs. Seems like a no brainer for him to up his game and get inspired.

He just picked up an apple..let's not force this into a William Tell scenario.

Not sure what you mean, Nux.  Are you talking about the stress factor of playing at the Jrs?

He sure didn't look stressed out last year at the U18s.  Maybe playing against kids his own age would be a nice change for him instead of sitting on the bench in Abby and not being able to converse with his teammates.  It would be great for him to see his family as well.

Sounds like his family might be moving here?

Where'd you hear that Alf.  If so, I can see why he's staying in Abby.  That would be awesome for him.

@RomanP, who appears to know Klim on a personal level, suggested family situation improving soon for Klim a few posts up.  I’m guessing that means his dad (more family?) might be moving here.
