If Nico Sturm signed with us that would really solidify our centre depth moving forward. Pettersson, Horvat, Gaudette, Sturm down the centre is something to dream about if you can find the right wingers to go with them.
-
If San Jose is going all in this year then Josh Norris is definitely a solid prospect to target. Though we may be better off looking for good RD prospects or high picks to acquire them.
-
Im surprised no one is talking about Pearson being moved. Honestly think he's one of the more likely to move. Has had a good season, only 1 point behind Garland and is on a cheaper contract. He doesn't really fit the mold this team wants to go as well. Pearson reunited in LA? Toronto?
-
@Chickenspear He might say yes to LA if LA was interested in him.
-
Is Edler on the power play part of the team tank philosophy? Not sure what hes done to deserve that spot this year. Would way rather see Stecher or Hutton there but lets put the guy that has an inability to pass to Boeser.

Agree with @Western Red. Doesn't make him an awesome power play quarterback, but he is the best we have for now.

Its amazing how well our prospects have done this year! Especially when you consider how we only have Juolevi and Lockwood from the 2016 draft still in our system! Lets get that great prospect defencemen in the first round and another guy like Woo, Miller or Bahl in the second and we could be set for years to come!
-
Its amazing that Vanek(P39) is currently outscoring Kane(P38) and Nash(P27) at this moment. He really has the potential to be the steal of the TDL for rentals. Heres hoping we can get a second for him

Its BACK! About time haha whats going on?
-
Its sad how we have 13Mil tied up in Eriksson, Sutter and Dorsett. All self inflicted bad cap hits. Thanks Vegas for taking Sbisa at least from us. Benning better not throw too much money at big UFAs this summer. Take some bad cap from teams and gain more assets and move on.

Ive basically accepted that the Canucks are going to fall in this lottery. But a top 5 pick is great and definitely what this team needs. It would just be an added bonus if we pick 1st or 2nd. Im my mind third overall doesn't really matter as there are so many players in the same bracket there.
-
Just thinking about last season when Burr/Hans were traded at the deadline and it got me thinking of how I enjoyed cheering for them on other teams. Then my thoughts turned to the Sedins and it left me wondering...would I rather watch the Sedins in Canucks colours for they're whole career but lose non stop in the end of said career, or watch them get traded to a contending team and cheer them on to a potential cup? My mind set is Id rather see them contend for a Cup and cheer them on since they will always be Canucks in my eyes! Therefor I think we should trade the Sedins if they wish too contend and give Canucks fans something to cheer about!
-
It's just the team we're trading with would have to take on 14 million in cap space. We're already holding onto the max salary retention with Hansen/Luongo. I'd like to see them move on as well. We're not in a place to be competitive in their twilight, so they should really either retire or move on to a better positioned team.

MacEwen is a PPG player in the NHL!!!
-
Part of me wants to see the Canucks get lit up this game so DiPietro doesn't feel so bad lol
-
Prediction- NyR and Canucks are working on something big
-
Sad how we are only 5P out of a wildcard but 6th worst in the league. The West was truly bad this year
-
Send Virtanen to Utica tomorrow when you activate Bo. He's just not showing consistency and the style of game we need him to play. Better for him to get top minutes down there and some confidence back.

@kingofsurrey You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. We'd be the Arizona Coyotes (maybe even worse) without the Sedins.
-
So Goldy has a great game and doesn't get a chance in OT? And then you put both Sedins out at the same time? Sedins are great but they are too slow for 3-3.

giving them a chance at glory for the last few times ?
i'm starting to believe they will be packing it in after this season
i really do not see useful roles for them next season
and i'm a huge sedin fan
but i think it's coming to an end
they again are gonna fall short of hitting 50 points
i really doubt they'd get 40 next season if they did return

So how many picks will Benning go "off the board" this year with?

Every draft has different levels of prospects based on ratings by pro scouts. Therefore its not hard to go off the board in any round. All Im saying is that Benning is known to go against the flow with some of his picks and in some cases unearth diamonds. And then sometimes you choose off the board and it backfires. Virtanen is the perfect example of this considering how he's developed so far.
-
Sounds like Edmonton wants to ditch Sekera. Would you trade Hutton for Sekera+Puljujarvi?
-
Sucks that we have over 10M tied up in Eriksson and Sutter for the next 3+ years. Wonder if Sutter has any current trade value? Would you have to retain salary?
-
Suddenly Benning doesn’t seem so bad
-
That 3rd Toronto goal was the worst Ive seen Hughes in his own zone
-
The only way I don't see this year being a success is if the playoffs get cancelled due to Covid. Losing our 1st round pick and not gaining all the playoff experience we can would hurt
-
This is not a playoff team. If Edlers willing to be traded anywhere then you trade him. He does not make us playoff competitive in 2-3 years but the assets he could garner could.
-
This pick tells me the Canucks have a timeframe in mind for being competitive. More of a longterm developmental pick considering the type of player, but I couldn't be more excited with the pick!
-
this pick at 10 oa
tells me that outside of the top 3 - 5 picks each draft
the rest of the 1st round need a season or 2
before they mature enough to crack an nhl line up
so yeah, unlikely he could step into the nuck line immediately after being drafted
most fans are very excited about our young talent
but none, no one, stepped right onto the team after being drafted
so nothing really to see here
