Anyways I thought it was the Leafs and the Habs that c***blocked Vancouver because they didn't want to share TV time. I could be wrong though.

The NHL didn't want Oakland, they wanted San Francisco, but professional hockey rights for San Francisco were owned by Coley Hall, a Vancouver hockey businessman whom the NHL hated. There was no way that the NHL could get the San Francisco Cow Palace because Hall controlled it. The NHL guys hated Hall so much that they had to go looking for a Vancouver franchise owner, before settling on Tom Scallen, of the Minneapolis -based Medicor company. I believe Scallen later did time in US prison for some kind of financial jiggery-pokery. Eventually the Griffiths family bought it, then the Evil Orcans from Seattle, and now the Aquilinis. And I am pretty sure I have rambled on way past your interest level. so, if yo've made it this far, good on ya and thanks.

Planting a massive amount of trees would also help. The funny thing is I saw a video on medieval farming. And the fact they would alternate 1/2 the field so it would get nutrients so the soil would never erode, might seem non industrial. But it was vital to make sure the soil stayed healthy, so that you could grow crops year after year.
