  1. Thoughts on Juolevi joining Pettersson in the SHL? Build chemistry together and play in a men's league; better than the OHL for sure.

      @NHL'er

People though Virtanen had nothing to prove in the OHL either but maybe it would have been better for him to play another year. For his offensive confidence and with knowledge of what to work on on an OHL playing schedule if nothing else.

  2. Thoughts on living / working in Montreal? How does it compare to Toronto / Vancouver?

Lived in Toronto for 5 years. I didn't like it. It's not the worst place in the world. At least the transit system is good. I visited Montreal for a week. I really liked it. Has a more international vibe. The people in Montreal are very nice. However leave the city and go to Quebec City. Then you get the Quebecois attitude.

(Basically if you don't speak French they hate you).

Ironically when I was in Paris. Outside of the scammers. I loved that city. And as long as you were trying to speak French, they will go out of their way to help you for the most part. (The woman at the metro was horrible though. I was using my map giving her the destination and she looked at me like I was from another galaxy, maybe she thought I was American.)

Vancouver is end game, while toronto and particularly quebec are the spawn zones of canada. You be the judge.

i agree with the gallagher being worst comment

he just irritates me more than others

i can almost always predict what he will say

and he will take positions contrary to an earlier position

if it suits his anti canuck viewpoints

    3. Wilbur

      Wilbur

Gallagher loves skill and he's grumpy when the Canucks aren't doing all they can to get skill.  He was by far the happiest (well, happy for Gallagher anyway) when the Sedin's and Vigneault were the Kings of Vancouver.  He has high expectations and a realist, which can come off as being anti-Canuck, but if you know that slant going in, he doesn't seem so doom and gloom.

tony had a grudge against pat quinn. he used his column to attack quinn. every column. one game, the canucks won like 7 to 1. tony's column said the canucks played well, and then added in, no thanks to pat quinn. when pat died, tony wrote, i don't know why it took me so long to like him. i always thought the province should fire him for that but maybe he sold papers. i quit buying the rag.

I took the timber scaling course and exam this spring out of Nelson. 90% certain 100% roughly 60 of us failed. Several of my cohort who did worse than I took the same test in burns lake and passed. Pretty un impressed thankfully it was just an add on for what I do and my livelihood wasn't depending on it.

having a sex partner addicted to drugs and alcohol, would be the worst unless she owned a beer wagon.

    4. Dazzle

      Dazzle

I think they're all bad. Alcohol is legal, but the other ones are not. Legally speaking, you'll be in trouble if you get caught doing either one or both.

That being said, excessive alcohol is just as (if not more) destructive to the normal lifestyle of a person.

I have the opinion that drugs should be decriminalized, but heavily regulated. Criminalizing it is not fixing the problem. It's actually making it worse (the drug problem). It's not like people are gonna throw their hands up in the air and say "oh well, it's illegal. Guess I can't do blow."

Probably Horvat (if Petey and Miller each center their own lines).

      smithers joe

i want 3 balanced scoring lines. that means JT, petey and BO as the centers. not 1,2,3 but whatever line is going each game gets the most ice time. if JT is traded hoefully we get a good center back. like mcleod or sillinger or whoever.

Depends on the price. If he’s willing to sign for cheap and not a long term I think it would be worth it over resigning Hamonic

    2. Captain Canuck #12

      Captain Canuck #12

I agree, he definitely would be.  He probably would have been the best fit, in terms of that much-needed RHD.  But the recent talk out of Edmonton is that they're closing in on a deal for him and likely going to let Barrie walk instead (who we wouldn't need).

  16. Would people be happy or disappointed if Juolevi turned out to be a replica of Olli Maata?

    2. Odd.

      Odd.

@logic Hutton scored 25 in 3 fewer games. Hutton's also on pace for another 25-30 point season. Maata this year is on pace for 10 points this season.

    3. Phil_314

      Phil_314

Yeah, slightly bummed as well.  Of course an offensive-type D-man is great but when he's not producing that's not that valuable.  Plus, he was projected more to be a big-minute all-rounder in the mold of OEL, Lindholm, or (dare I say it) Lidstrom, so yeah.  Getting an Ehrhoff would be underwhelming.

    4. abbyroadkill

      abbyroadkill

      kanucks25

Uh, I'd want a lot more than Hartman. That's not an ordinary cap-dump, it's a long-term anchor. One decent player isn't enough to eat it.

    3. Pears

      Pears

It's unlikely they trade their 1st because they're hosting the draft but we could probably get one of their kids for sure.

    4. Salmonberries

      Salmonberries

Nope, not enough payment to take that on.

Interestingly Hartman was the guy I wanted where we took Shinkaruk.

  18. Would you do Kuemper and Dahlin for Dumba in fantasy?

    2. Drive-By Body Pierce

      Drive-By Body Pierce

If he stays healthy, I think Dumba will have more goals. I think point totals will be very close. Dumba probably has the edge in +/- as well. There is also the potential for the dreaded "sophmore slump" for Dahlin, though I wouldn't count on that for a player of his calibre.

    3. Drive-By Body Pierce

      Drive-By Body Pierce

You could also look at if you are doing the opposing GM a favour by upgrading him in goal.

    4. Drive-By Body Pierce

      Drive-By Body Pierce

I think I have convinced myself the other way from choosing to go for Dumba. Coming off injury as well... Keep Dahlin and Kuemper.

    3. -AJ-

      -AJ-

I'm not sold on him not being a #1 centre, but I think at best he'll be a fringe #1 centre. Maybe 60-70 points in his best years. Good, but not great as far as top line centremen go.

    4. Jaku

      Jaku

Sam isn't going to be a 1C. I love Sam and I will always cheer for him there is no other player I have followed so intensely and for so long.

His development hasn't gone the way a lot of people thought it would. He won't be that perrenial 70+ point center. He's more than likely going to stay as a wing and be a 55-65 point player. I could see 70+ as a career high.

  20. Would you rather have Clayton Keller or Matthew Tkachuk?

    4. Phil_314

      Phil_314

More like straight-up or no dice.

Stevie Y will be in a bind financially, needing to re-sign him, Palat and Johnson (all R.F.A.'s) and media are already reporting that either Johnson or Drouin would be dangled as trade bait if things get tight money-wise (they can move Johnson with Brayden Point's emergence).  If they want to patch up that right-side defense they better be willing to offer Drouin straight-up for Tanev.  No to adding Tree.

      MikeBossy

At this point for me its Petey , then Dahlin and then Tkachuk. However you can not discount the Eastern Media - not so much as Bias as they don't get to see Elias play as much. Kind of like the Linden - Leetch race. Elias needs to run away with it in order to win IMO

Also Klaus Voorman on bass. He came up with the funky riff to start the tune. Good bud of Lennon/Beats from Hamburg daze, & he did the awesome cover art design on Revolver LP.
