It's a good question, it was raised in my spring class this morning actually

My prof said that it could be argued in a society where higher level education is becoming the norm the way having your grade 12 used to be that getting that higher level education is more important than ever

    3. Coconuts

But that's just one way of looking at it of course, it'll be interesting to see what our society becomes

not surprising, there'd be no tv revenue if they did return.

It does make re-starting the NHL season a little easier now tho since the AHL guys won't be with their teams and can quarantine with the big clubs now.

    3. NewbieCanuckFan

      NewbieCanuckFan

I don't think TV revenue was too big a factor in that imagine how small TV/PPV revenues are in the NHL (in the context of gate receipts from 'butts in the seats').  I would think it's significantly a smaller piece of the pie in the AHL.  Canucks can 'eat that loss' but many cash poor teams in the NHL can't.

I'll be very surprised if I'm at a pub any time soon, idk what things are like where you guys are living but businesses are having a helluva time with people not maintaining proper distance and adhering to safety practices.

I imagine it's the same everywhere.

      great

i'll open a pub in my back yard

keep the chairs 6 feet apart

a couple types of beer and cooler/cider chilling on ice in coolers

seems like that could be easy enough

it certainly does suck. My wife and I gear our summer workouts to stay in shape for the ski season, and it was sucky to find out as we came off the mountain that they were shutting down for the year :( and no Canucks. And no hated teams to cheer to see lose. I mean, watching Boston put Toronto over a log was becoming an annual tradition.

laffs look to have a playoff spot wrapped up

(albeit they will play the bruins or tampa so not sure they have any chance really)

  18. With cap decisions on the horizon which D prospects could you see in the lineup next year?

I could see us going the route of having one or more of Juolevi, Rafferty, Rathbone, Woo, and Tram cracking the lineup as opposed to dipping into UFA.

are you saying, we are not near as smart as we think we are? i always thought that cdc made the decisions on who manages, coaches and what players play? lord love a duck, seems like we are only legends in our own minds. i guess the canucks will have to press on, on their own.

I was gonna keep that one under my hat for the next loss..

Or every loss for the rest of the year

  21. Hughes has 49 points, he only needs 14 more to tie Lidster for the all-time record for points by a D. With 19 points in his last 17 he could break it.

The rookie record is 56 by Tallon, which he should obliterate.

    1. Ghostsof1915

      Ghostsof1915

Pretty sure 139 points is pretty safe by Bobby Orr.

That +124 for a season. Still blows my mind.

Not even Gretzky with 208 points even could beat that +/-. (+100)

Larry Robinson was close with +120 and 85 points.

(Dallas Smith of the Bruins has to have benefitted from Orr he got +98 one year)

True that. I'm happy for him though, whether he's here next season or not he'll get to ride out the rest of this season as a Canuck with his teammates. The offseason is an easier time to pack up and settle too. I imagine this was a stressful day for Canuck players, and players in general.

Watched the game and cheered for the Bruins.  Still feel dirty after a couple of showers.  Found myself cheering against both teams at times, very confusing.  Good night for Vancouver, now time to play a full 60 against Boston.

I thought it was a good trade, we needed to do something with Boeser out long term and I think there's a strong chance we re-sign him if he has success here. I'm just tired of all the speculation and I'm ready for the home stretch.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to see Calgary slip out of the playoff picture and have us, Arizona, Vegas, and Edmonton make it out of the pacific. Wonder how they'd be able to sell how weak the pacific is then.

    3. Herberts Vasiljevs

      Herberts Vasiljevs

@Coconuts if any team is going to slip out in the Pacific it's Calgary. I also think Winnipeg falls short and I wonder if Nashville has any kind of pushback in their game despite the talent they have... I give the Canucks an 80% chance of making the playoffs at least. I think Vegas is too good and will continue to pick it up more as the season moves along. I think we'll vs. McDavid and the Oilers in round one.

    4. Coconuts

      Coconuts

Idk what to make of Winnipeg, considering their D it's astounding they are where they are. I'm not sure what to make of Nashville tbh, they should be better than they've been.
