  1. I'm actually so torn between Dahlin and Svechnikov

we had great top 10 options this year, and they're even better next year. I'll start narrowing it down next spring.

    3. Beary Sweet

      Beary Sweet

Dahlin would be my pick today but based on what happened this past year where Liljegren slipped really bad due to mono, anything can happen. He has franchise player written all over him along with a couple others like Veleno, Svechnikov, Tkachuk and many more. Quite the luxury!

    4. HerrDrFunk

      HerrDrFunk

Don't worry, I'm sure the Canucks won't get a sniff at either of them once the lottery happens. So we won't have to stress about which one to pick!

CTrav, Saw a writer state clearly what we(humanity) are here for:

      1- dig sh*t up

      2 - Burn that sh*t

      3 - Choke on it

      ...pretty much sums it up

not much in the way of rain coming all next week either... its good to see the evacuations starting early on this one.

  3. As much as it would suck to see the Sedins go they deserve to win a cup so who would be in favour of sending them to a powerhouse like Washington at the trade deadline?

i don't care at all about getting a return, I'd let them go for free if they really had another shot at a cup.

    3. Stanky Legs

      Stanky Legs

It's selfish for the Canucks and fans if they don't even explore giving the Sedins a chance to win a cup with another team. They can always sign back for one year here to finish their career.

    4. smithers joe

      smithers joe

if the sedins wanted to go, the canucks would try to move them but would have to eat a lot of their salary. again, they want to retire canucks.

  4. Does anyone else find it just a little bit suspicious that once Chicago finally runs into cap problems Hossa randomly has a "allergic reaction to his gear"?

This league has long been a rigged deck.

    3. JM_

      JM_

not really. I think if Hossa could play he would. He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that would cut his career short to make Bowman's life easier.

      Mathew Barzal

      In theory.

Realistically Dahlen's going to Sweden, Boeser's sticking with Canucks, the Comets will find lesser replacements for Grenier, Valk, Archie and friends, and Virtanen will take a minor step forward in his development ... to become an impact third liner at the AHL level.

      TL;DR: I've had a bad day.

    3. MJDDawg

      MJDDawg

I hope. It'll be a very good thing for this franchise if the Canucks core can play together in a winning environment for a couple of years. Probably wishful thinking though.

  6. Apparently signing good depth players to good contracts makes us losers but Toronto signing a 37 year old defenseman to a 2 year $3 million contract makes them geniuses. God I hate Jeff O'Neill.

    1. Jaku

      Jaku

Jeff O'Neil is an idiot. He would have given Toronto all the praise if they did what Benning did today.

I started to lean towards Pettersson over the last few days and I'm really happy we got him.

    4. JM_

kids got lots of upside, and clearly a lot of teams weren't all that impressed with Vilardi. We have Glass' skill set with Bo. When you look at the speed and skill Jim is building it makes a lot of sense. Really now I think we're looking for a #1 LW.

Between Horvats 5 or 6 million, Boesers wanting the same in a few years, Demko getting that much in the future (if he turns out to a Murray)... Best to sign rental players, and then flip em at the deadline to contenders.

  11. I just need Friday to get hereeeeeee

  12. Bored and waiting for the draft to get here so here's a quick proposal. Who says no?

    To Dallas: Edler, Baertschi/Granlund, 55

    To Vancouver: 3rd overall, Niemi

  13. If Montreal didn't trade Subban imagine a powerplay featuring him, Drouin, Galchenyuk, Pacioretty and Radulov.

    3. CRAZY_4_NAZZY

      CRAZY_4_NAZZY

With Weber's slapper, I much rather have him on the point over PK.  PK is awesome, but Weber's slapper takes the cake every time.

    4. Ghostsof1915

      Ghostsof1915

Weber will be 32 in August. Subban just turned 28. Weber is consistent, and he'd be great on any hockey club.

But how much gas is in the tank for both players?

      Time will tell.

whats the point of making the playoffs, if we won't make it past the 1st round let alone win the cup. It's seriously in our best interest to acquire good prospects and picks and develop/ acquire young players. Once the sedins retire we have $ to take on high $ contracts for picks/ prospects. Make the playoffs come 2020 and contend for a cup by 2022.

    3. Pears

      Pears

Because making the playoffs alone would be a huge step in development for the young players. Winning a round (which in the right scenario could be doable), would be a huge bonus.

that was heartbreaking. I'm glad Burr wasn't on the ice. I want PK to win, but honestly I'll prob tune out now for most of it.

Saturday's are an opportunity for sleeping. I took the opportunity to sleep in past 9am, waking up close to 10am. I also took the opportunity to enjoy the sun and walk everywhere today. Now I am home, and am going to take the opportunity to apply the organic sour head candy to my luscious chocolate cake I got at Whole Foods. I call it the Brilac cooking.

I think some are just based on how they are used in pop culture (e.g., We are the Champions is used to frequently in movies and likely to end on the 'of the world' note).

Others are just because they defy logic (e.g., 'stain' instead of 'stein'; froot loops rather than fruit loops).

The one that really bothers me is that the "Hello Clarice" line was never actually used in Silence of the Lambs.

"They know they still have many years of contention".  Contention is something we DID know about just a short time ago.  And, like us, it's meaningless if they don't convert.  So to sing their praises before that happens?  The chances are high?  Not really...it's a tough thing to win a cup and they just demonstrated that.  Confidence is a huge thing and this will be something for them to contend with.  A blow.  I hate that we apply one thing to our team but another to other teams.
