Going to the game tonight. I may or may not cry.
-
People are actually thinking Gaudette might "ruin" the tank...
-
LOLOL
-
Has anyone been following the story of this guy on twitter who got this really creepy voicemail from an unknown number? Really sketchy stuff.
-
We, might actually finish dead last. I don’t know how to feel.
-
Honestly. If Tavares would come to Vancouver for 7 years at $12 million a year I think you have to do that. He’s a bonafide, superstar #1 center which you can get for nothing but money. How often do those opportunities come around?

@ReggieBush An insta hoe? That's the best you got? C'mon man...

All in all, considering the market, Benning did a fine job today. We weren’t gonna get a 3rd for Vanek given his history at the trade deadline and Holm for Leipsic was a nice surprise.

Vanek's value reminds me of Vrbata's value last season. He ended up with 55 points while on a 1 year, $1 million contract, but the Coyotes couldn't find a trading partner for him partly because of how lousy his career playoff track record was.
Most of us probably had higher hopes for a Vanek trade, but what the Canucks got was still better than nothing and enough that it doesn't set a precedent for accepting low-value returns going forward.
-
Why does Edmonton always suck?
-
Ok. If Nash can get that kind of return, why can’t Vanek? Vanek has a higher career ppg rate than Nash and has had a 40 point season every year since the lockout.
-
Anyone watching these kids absolutely clown these politicians?
-
So if we trade Tanev and Gudbranson is re-signed, who are some realistic replacements for Tanev via trade or free agency? John Carlson would obviously be the top option and we do have the money to sign him.

@I.Am.Ironman And we could easily afford that as we could have upwards of $40 million in cap space.

Canucks twitter is on a whole other level of stupid...

r/canucks from what I can tell is pretty fairly balanced, although most of the upvoted posts tend to favour Benning. There are people there that are more critical of JB, but there's a far better balance of opinions on Reddit than on HFBoards, where almost everyone is just incessantly negative.
In terms of Benning's favourability, I'd rank them as follows (from positive to negative):
CDC > Reddit > Twitter/Facebook > HFBoards

@-AJ- I would argue Twitter is even worse than Facebook. If you say something someone doesn’t agree with they’ll have their followers pretty much attack you.

Here’s a question: Why should I respect McDavid when all Oilers fans did was trash the Sedins for years?

Because we can set the bar higher and show respect as fans of hockey, not just our team. I hate the way the Sedins have been treated...but those guilty of this just show themselves as uneducated hicks. Anyone with half a brain respects what the Sedins have done in this league. Sadly, some are running on less than that.
-
What do other teams fans have anything to do with whether or not we respect their player? I have tons of respect for tons of players, I don't have respect for other teams fans (Boston specifically comes to mind). I have lots of buddies in the prairies with whom I trade barbs with over wins and losses, but we don't spend time trashing players on the teams, because we understand how hard it is to receive and maintain an NHL contract.

So apparently Gudbranson isn’t on the IR but a healthy scratch tonight. Hmmmm.

Jesus this kid is insane

I've never heard his name before this but he's 19 yrs old, 5'10'' and 147lbs in his 2nd WHL season. He's matched his last season total in half the games. Compared to Kole Lind (who is in his 3rd WHL season), Aleksi is 3 months younger, and was picked 7 spots later in the 2017 draft. They have similar games played and goals for, the main difference in points between them (85 vs 58) being that Aleksi has 25 more assists.
Aleksi's team (the Broncos) have only scored 8 more goals for the season (185 vs 177) than Lind's team (the Rockets). Therefore, along with a crazy point streak (the last 26 of his 34 gp) he's involved in 45% of his team's goals.
Fun fact: The last team Aleksi failed to get a point against 27 games ago? The Vancouver Giants.

What would you guys think of this as pregame video/entrance songs?

Oh my god if Trump got this notification....

If I’m being honest, I think Winnipeg will be the team that ends Canada’s Cup drought. They have amazing depth right now and a bunch of really good prospects coming up that they could either package for help now or use for even more depth in the next couple years.
-
Apparently a Gudbranson trade might be imminent?
-
Do you have a minute to talk about our lord and saviour Brock Boeser?
-
How would everyone feel about signing Kane and Nash in the summer? I’m thinking something like Nash with Baertschi and Horvat, Kane with Pettersson and Boeser, and then find a good young two-way guy to play with the Sedins on the third line.
