Would Dallas want anything for Spezza or could we get him as a cap dump?

i'd do that, but if we are giving a 4th and mcenemy i think i'd want a 2nd round instead of the 3rd
canucks really could use for 1 year only
a quality and experienced 2nd line centre
so spezza is an excellent fit for vancouver
we'd lose someone else from our roster as a result as well
which would pay a portion of spezza contract (bye bye gagner?)

I keep going back and forth between what I want to see happen next year. I think Pettersson is a huge x-factor and if he and Hughes are ready they’ll make an impact imo.
-
I really wonder sometimes how far we would’ve gone in 2010 if Mitchell wasn’t hurt.
-
Oh yay another Winter Classic featuring Chicago! Just what we’ve always wanted
-
Despite being let go Todd Harkins brought in a massive haul for the Cougars future over a span of a couple weeks and just now I’m starting to realize just how huge it really was.
-
What kind of a season is Swift Current expected to have next year? They’ll be losing a bunch of players to graduation and the Cougars have their 1st for 2019

Drove past a dead animal on my way to work. My day is now ruined.

Imagine hating Burrows but support Kadri.

Horvat-Virtanen-Hughes in 3 on 3 OT would be super fun. Speed for dayzzzz.

@Pears it's only five minutes. Play Huges the entire OT!

Man do I regret following Canucks twitter

All in all I like the signings Benning made today. Who cares if he gave Beagle and Roussel and extra year than originally reported. If Benning goes out and gets a 2C we could have a really solid forward group next season.

@Nuxfanabroad its not a phase, when the inevitable world war 3 breaks out we wont actually hear about until it reach's Toronto and whip's out tsn and sn
-
I think I’ve made a decision on how I want next year to go. If Benning improves the top six then I’ll say push for the playoffs. If he only signs Roussel and Beagle then I’m ok with tanking for one more year.
-
In the latter scenario, which is also my preferred, I expect Boeser, Horvat, Pettersson, Gaudette, etc. to get tons of offensive opportunity and develop strongly. We will again be in a position to sell some vets at the deadline, including MDZ and possibly (unlikely) Edler, leaving the possibility of Juolevi getting 20 games at the end of the year. If our young core was to carry the team into a playoff position, who could possibly complain?

I could see Benning still adding one top six forward via free agency and trading for a 2C for Pettersson before the summer is over.

@NUCKER67 I would love it if Vanek signed again.

Canucks interested in Roussel per Friedman

@Pears Probably the most expensive 4th line in the league....but I guess we'll just have to make up for it by having the cheapest top 6 between Boeser, Pettersson and Dahlen.
-
What kind of value would our 2020 1st have in a trade? I’d be willing to move it for a top LW or a top pair RD.
-
Looks like Boston would probably like to get rid of Krejci or Backes to free up a little cap space. Would anyone go after Krejci if the price was reasonable?

Eriksson wore a rock salt necklace and dusted all his equipment with baking soda.
Both neutralize the douche juice
-
Might have robbed him of his mojo.
Or maybe the fact that the first goal he scored as a Canuck was an empty netter, ON HIS OWN GOAL! FFS that was awful
In my expert opinion he's got some bad juju, not doucheitis. Doucheitis affects an inviduals ability to not act like a total a**hole.
They blame others for their mistakes and are unable to accept personal responsibility for their selfish, cowardly and narcissistic actions.
Eriksson has bad Canuck juju. They should send him to a sweatlodge. Then first thing in the morning beat him up a bit with cold cedar bows before sending him for a swim in the ocean.
Almost guaranteed to change his luck.

Cougars are getting someone unreal in the import draft on Wednesday. They have the 5th pick which is higher than i originally thought.
-
After signing six free agents last summer, could we/should sign the same amount again this summer? We certainly have the cap space to do so. I’m thinking 3-4 roster players and 2 players for Utica.
-
So if Hughes is actually ready to play next year I could see something like this
___ - Horvat - Boeser
Goldobin - ___ - Pettersson
Leipsic - Sutter - Virtanen
Gaunce - Granlund - Eriksson
Edler - Stecher
Hughes - Tanev
Pouliot - Gudbranson
Markstrom
Nilsson/Demko
-
Oh wow TSN added Colton Parayko to their trade bait list. IMO we gotta be all over that. Parayko is an absolute stud.
-
Would a package involving Tanev and Tyler Johnson be fair/realistic?

Honestly, I've kind of thought that sort of swap would make a lot of sense. Gives Pettersson some time to adjust to the NHL, he's an offensive minded centreman (who is currently being usurped in the TBL lineup by the younger/cheaper Yanni Gourde), he's localish (Johnson is from Spokane), and TBL needs to dump a contract soon as they start re-signing there young guys... Plus, he's 27. So he's just young enough to grow with this new core but just old enough to be a bit of an "NHL veteran". Question is -- will TBL want more from the Canucks to do this. I think this deal is possible for both sides. I guess the other question would be -- who in the Canucks depth chart would replace Tanev?
-
With how it stands now we technically have the cap space to sign two big ticket free agents. If we make a couple trades we could fit them in no problem. How realistic would that scenario be?

as it stands today there should be close to 27 mil, with 6 RFAs to sign who should all come in around the 2 mil mark or so, assuming we want them all back.
So certainly room to improve with decent depth guys and have some money left over that the TDL to maybe facilitate some trades by us taking on salary for another team for picks.

Cougars have named Mark Lamb as their new general manager. Good hire?
