[Rumor] Boeser Camp Eyeing 4 Year Deal Worth $28M

If it is a 3 year deal, see it come in at 6.5 cap hit, but raise up to over 8 in the last year, making that the start of his negotiating point for his next contract.

a QO of 8 mil would be a lot more reasonable than Meier's 10 mil QO. I'd be fine if it was built to end at 8, its in line with what a guy like Kessel at the top of his game was worth, which is probably the ceiling for Brock too (which would be great).

I'm starting to get anxious about this one.

Edit: that said, I'm surprised cap is an isssue with a short term deal. After sending down enough players to get to a 23 man roster, we have a minimum of $6.86 million in cap.

4.16 + 2.7mil in cleared salary (I send down Biega, Goldobin, and Motte to arrive at the minimum. They are the cheapest players with a chance of being sent down).

More likely that Shaller finds himself in Utica, which can give us 50 to 125k more room.

IMO worst case scenario is Boeser misses part  of or all of camp. I doubt Jimbo and Co. want this to drag into the season and cause a distraction amongst the team especially with how high expectations are this season considering the moves made this off season. If I were a betting man, I think the sides come to a Timo Meier type deal around 7 mill per.

Too much imo.

No more than werenski on 3 years. D vs F but still no way Boeser should get more on 3 year deal. Make it similar structure with 7 mill QO for 4th year.

Timo Meier is a beast. Hes not a comparable so i don't know why Boeser thinks he deserves same or more.

I think they're just trying to bend JB over. JB has to hold the line. Let Boeser sit and if it gets past November let him sit the year.

Dolly-Wah in full drama queen mode.

Yup. If Boeser wants to sign a similar deal to Keller it's 8 years and around $7.25-$7.5m, which Benning should be able to JUST squeak in. The cap isn't the problem here.

Watch Brock get signed right after he says this.  I've lost a lot of faith in Rick's sources, he seems to get his wires crossed a little too often these days

His sources aren't necessarily the 'problem'. I'm sure Boeser's agent is telling him that both sides ARE far apart. But just like with Edler, Rick seems to struggle separating the reality of the situation from the agent's spin.

IMO A player that has never seen serious playoff time should not be making over 5 mil. But this is Boeser so yeah 6(still ridiculous for a player that hasnt really proven alot of anything.) But 7 Million? Trade that player. Your setting a dangerous precedent thats just going to escalate. Imagine the Leafs situation wherein 4 players make half of your salary cap. (Tavares,Mathews,Nylander, and probably Marner for 8-10 million.)

If we had just last year gone deep into the playoffs and Boeser was a beast id be all about paying this kid 7million+ But he has proven nothing! We still dont fully know what we have until we make the playoffs. Boeser's demands are going to land him on another team 7 million is crazy talk.

I don't think @stawns is bashing him, just trying to speculate on the rumours that Boeser's agent is looking for 7 mil/season or more.

Just for comparison's sake...  here are the top paid forwards in the league under the age of 27 and between 5 to 9 mil/season.

Edit: First number is the cap hit.

@Boeser's Agent Look at some of the names up there lets just stop at Pastrnak, Take a breath and think about this is Brock Boeser right now better than Pasta? Have fun playing in whatever team you end up on Boeser.

1.)  Holy Drama batman

2.) Contracts signed 2 years ago don’t have a ton of bearing on contracts being negotiated now

3.)  How do you know what Brock is asking for?  Maybe you should be an insider....

The problem is the precedent has already been set, only by other GMs. Some players demand and rightly deserve potential pay. It's a risk, but sometimes it's warranted, and I'm someone who thinks Brock deserves it. It'll get done and for something pretty reasonable, tho, I think.

Our media is trying to stir up drama again, much like they did with Edler. The cap being an issue is a load of crap. It was clear for the last few months that Boeser was looking at a bridge deal, kind of like every other RFA.

And some fans are buying it.

Allot of it is also up to Boeser . If Jim cave's and gives them what they want , he gets criticized for too much $$$, and if he doesnt sign him early , it's his fault brock is not in camp.

Allot of this falls on Boeser . Dont buy the story they tell that it's his agent that handles all this . Brock  decides what direction he wants to go every step of the way.
