Should we glue ourselves to Rogers Arena until we get the changes we want?

What are the cap implications if/when Shipachyov's contract is mutually terminated? Does some or all of it still count against the VGNs cap?

@Where's Wellwood thats kind of what I was wondering. Montreal didn't get a cap hit for terminating Streit's contract.... so maybe this is an option? There's 21 million in bonuses they'd have to pay him... but maybe thats best for both? I'm sure Loui wouldn't mind moving on from here.

Need some help understanding the reserve list from the cap guru's out there. Two of our guys (Tryamkin and Zhukenov) are listed as "indefinite" for a date we need to sign them by... how does that work? Doesn't there have to be a specific date or does their going to the KHL extend the must sign by date?

Couldn't find anything official, but from what I can tell, because the KHL doesn't have an official transfer agreement, the NHL team retains the rights to a player that signs there indefinitely. However, (and this is where I'm using blind trust from a post on the internet) if a player signed any sort of contract with the NHL club at any time, that player can become a UFA when they are old enough to become a UFA (so 27).
My expectations would be that Zhukenov is Canucks property for as long as they keep him on their reserve list. Tryamkin will be until he's 27.

So looking at the CBA this is why I don't think Nik is considered "defected" - so maybe CF is correct and we have his rights indefinitely.
p33 of the CBA
10.2 (b)(i) (C) A Player who plays out his final season and enters into a contract for a period including the following season with an unaffiliated club or with any other professional hockey club shall not be deemed to be a "Defected Player"
and then on p34 of the CBA:
Application of League By-Law Section 15. Anything to the contrary in this Section 10.2(b) notwithstanding, until all of the conditions specified in Section 10.2(b)(ii) have occurred, the Club with which any Player covered by Section 10.2(b)(i) was last under SPC, or in the case of defected Players referred to in Section 10.2(b)(i)(C), the Club which now or hereafter owns, through an NHL Entry Draft or through a proper transfer or assignment from another Club or otherwise, the professional rights or the right to negotiate for said professional rights, shall be deemed to continue to hold such professional or negotiating rights and the provisions of League By-Law Section 15 shall be applicable.

How did WPG manage to get worse today with 25 mil in cap space?

Their gm doesn’t like to overpay, day one ufas almost all get over paid Either in term $$$ or both.
I think Winnipeg did the right thing today.
Don’t they need to extend some of there big name guys soon? 25mill won’t last long.
Besides They need support pieces that can be had cheaper in a week or two.
Vanek was signed at the end of summer and he was our best and cheapest signing a year ago.

Pouliot not qualified. Well then.

I think this might actually be a way for teams and players to avoid the awful and acrimonious process that is arbitration. In the report about Pouliot (and DSP and the Caps), it's been noted that both sides are still open to working out a deal.
I mean, there's not only the sticking point with the club that they can't walk away from any arbitration decision that comes under a value of $4M, there's also the aspect of how the club has to basically crucify the player (point out his every flaw and weakness to the arbitrator) to make their case, which is probably not appealing to either the player or club if they *do* want to work things out. Add that to the fact that the arbitrators *aren't* hockey people, which has led to a long history of questionable decisions.
In other words, this might be more about the arbitration process itself.

All this Tanev trade talk is making me miss the "Edler won't waive" threads.

I'm really starting to warm to WPG. They are rag dolling the Wild. And they have a Tanev.

drove a snowmobile for the first time ever yesterday. I feel a little more Canadian.

OK so maybe I was wrong about Boucher. He's not playing like the same guy they sent down a few months ago.

Certain religions and cultures have conservative attitudes towards nudity. It's particularly noticeable in the Muslim world or in the US. Really depends on where you live.
You should move to France, Cram. I mean, Fifty Shades of Grey only earned a 12 rating there (so anyone older than that could see the movie without restriction).
-
It's nothing new in Canada, groups have been doing this across Canada (including in Vancouver https://www.skinnydipper.ca/) without all the press for years, it's just that somebody complained and now the city decides to "look into it".
But yeah, typically people over here are super anal about nudity. It's absurd.

Happy holidays everyone

No one should feel bad for Willie. He got paid handsomely for doing his dream job. He'll be fine.

for some reason the NHL.com milestone tracker has ignored tracking Daniel's upcoming 1,000 point milestone: http://www.nhl.com/stats/milestone
@-Vintage Canuck- any buddies over at NHL.com to set this straight?

Has Weal earned a deal with term? How long a deal would you offer?

I'm hyped on him, but mostly for AHL purposes to be honest. I'd be okay with sacrificing a one-way deal if that's what it takes to entice him, but I wouldn't sign him for any more than three years, but would be okay with anywhere between 1-3 years.
I'd say either give him a one-way deal for around $900K or a two-way deal for a bit less ($800K?) and a really nice AHL salary of about $300K. His last deal was $650K/$200K, so a nice raise for his AHL play would be nice.

I hope Edler has a great game today. Go Canuck go.

@Ghostsof1915 Edler is actually averaging just under 19 min's in the worlds and has looked great. For sure I think Hutton can step up and play 2-3 min's more, particularly if he's paired with Tanev. OJ might be able to eat 15-16 and give Edler 1-2 shifts off there too.

Edler's having a great worlds... is it the bigger ice?

there's also a system issue apparently (although the method is sketchy as usual with the fancy crowd): http://www.vancourier.com/pass-it-to-bulis/passing-data-shows-serious-flaws-in-canucks-defensive-systems-1.20047286
I think we can throw the book away on systems, I just can't see Green being Willie 2.0

I have a Powell St. Brewery Dive Bomb porter and a 2" thick steak waiting for me at home. I must go to them now, they're calling to me.

The Canucks should set up a contest for post number 4,000,000. That has to be a league fan base record.

OK @J.R. I'm going to listen to your Green dude during the debate tonight

Why should he, or any other politician? I don't care how smooth (or not) talking my preferred candidate is, I care that they adequately, sincerely and honestly talk about the issues that matter to me.
Christy Clark is way too disingenuous, and just comes off as smarmy.
Horgan is just a giant blow horn, he even *looks* like a typical figure head/pawn (bought and paid for by the unions). -
@debluvscanucks yah he was pretty worked up. I think Horgan underestimated him a bit tho.
-
So I'm on to "bargaining" in the 7 stages of Tryamkin....

@Ghostsof1915 Now that I've stopped swearing about it, the nagging thing that remains for me is why only 2 years? From a negotiation pov it seems like Jim left term on the table. Nik may have still said no, but at least we would have done all we could.
But, its all pirogies under the tank now, or whatever the Russian saying is.
