Almost appears too much of a good thing. No, not really. Werenski is a teenager and Paliotta is just nearing NHL readiness - what it does is give them a solid top four presently, with depth, a succession plan and the ability to deal with an injury or two (Murray's health has been off thus far in his career). CLB wouldn't even do it for Bo + Shinkurak - get real. Agreed and that's my belief and earlier point. Forums get all riled up when mention of an available player comes up but right away people can't even grasp the reality that it takes, on average your best assets to make these deal. Come to terms with giving up your goalie of the future or your breakout player or your number one pick from this year's draft, etc. These ridiculous trade offerings that come on the forums are just a joke. "Drouin? How about Higgins, Jensenn and a pick?" Freaking as if!
WHL rocks
NSH just traded Seth Jones and they still have Weber, Josi, Ehkolm and Ellis. Mind Blowing D they have. When you have that kinda depth on D you can make a trade for a 1C. When you have what the Canucks have, then you have hard time making a deal for 3C. This.. except the fact Shea Weber isn't getting any younger so short term it seems good, but long term it could bite them.. I think longterm wise Columbus wins. MJDDawg
Why the CBJ would take Seth Jones instead of Hansen, Higgins and Weber is beyond me.
Honky Cat
This trade really demonstrates how the Canucks just don't have the assets to make deals like this...

Tiger Gino Brash Ryp
Wow. Good trade for both teams at the moment. We'll have to wait and see if anyone gets the edge .

Marginal non impact players and a pick getting the leagues best players or prospects. Happens once a week in the proposals sections.
TheRussianRocket.
Would be funny if Preds offersheet Jones $6m+ per at the end of the season and get him back, lmao. Jackets have a pretty sloppy cap situation and with high ELC prospects making the team next year like Werenski will only give them less to work with. Ossi Vaananen
Fair for both, though I'd give the edge to Nashville. They essentially have 2 1Cs now in Forsberg/Johansen, add that to supreme goaltending and an elite D core, they're looking pretty good.

All their other top D are mid 20s and signed to very favourable contracts.
oldnews
Must really get under Poille's skin to let go of Jones - he loves his D men and has quite the track record. But what they had at C was untenable if you really hope to compete. You can't have a 1C like Ribiero - eating up a ridiculous 82.1% offensive zone starts - without some serious depth down the middle in behind that. Johansen could have quite the impact in that group. Not to mention the young near NHL ready depth they have at forward. They can afford to turn around and spend a young forward to shore up their depth in their 3rd pairing (and still have Bartley and Bitetto who have hardly seen a whiff of NHL ice this year).
