The Getzlaf hit on jake was more blindside, and the arms got into the head area. This was more of a follow through/push on contact Perreault was expecting, arms never got up.
drdeath
I definitely think that was a missed minor penalty call on Jake but in light of the Tkachuk hits that's never a suspension and seems like a weird one to pipe up about to the media. 1
wai_lai416
Lol virtanen definitely chicken winged a little.. the initial point of contact was made with the elbow regardless of where it made contact with perreault.. shoulder head doesnt matter.. virtanen been great this year but I'm not a fan of his lack of toughness. He lays big hit and questionable hit once in a while but runs away everytime when challenged. Hes always the last man in and first man out in scrums around the net. 3
Tystick
Didn't appear like Virtanen elbowed him in the head I don't think? Wish we had another angle. I agree with others here, it just seems like Virtanen's bracing himself. All in all, I like that Perreault is calling out DOPS. We need more of that. They're so bad. It was clearly a case of MP running into Jake but Jake leaned into him when he saw it coming instead of trying to avoid. Jake could have gotten 2 for interference but Perreault is way off base expecting DOPS to deal with minor collisions like this. the center ice view:
canuckster19
Obvious to me at the initial point of contact that his elbow is nowhere near his head. 1

rekker
Jake trending to career year in points, check. Jake using his body, check. Jake getting under the skin of opponants, check. Me likey.

JeremyCuddles
Jake's elbow was tucked in, cry more. It sustains me. He does stick the arm out on the follow through. But Jake was lining up a hit, cry baby lost the puck, Jake let up. If anything Virtanen could have done a lot worse if he wanted to. Tracksuit
Wow if opposition of the canucks got suspended or penalized for all the times I’ve seen this or even more done to a Canuck it would be a 3 team league. MP the biggest little cry baby. JV should bring him a soother next time they play.

poetica
Dude, people don't get suspended because you're shorter. Jake's arm was down until the follow through. It wasn't even a particularly brutal hit. Maybe grab an energy bar. Someone sounds hangry.

Popular Post PhillipBlunt
So will Colin Campbell get involved here? I seem to remember that loathsome turd showing up in Vancouver after Gudbranson stated that Matt Martin was dead, and lecturing the team on retribution pre-game. Guddy's comments weren't directly to a reporter at all, merely overheard by Dan Murphy who proceeded to air it on Twitter, like an idiot. Seeing as how Perreault was speaking to a reporter directly, therefore effectively quoting him, and stated that he intends on using his stick to exact retribution, this should involve, at the very least, the same level of involvement by league brass, if not more. Personally, silence from the league, is a direct indicator that the Canucks are under a different set of standards and rules than other teams in the league. 2 2
DrJockitch
He turned into Jake and wasn't looking where he was going. Jake was in that spot and did lean into the hit a little but what else would you do. He didn't rise up or stick out the elbow. I think Perreault needs to look where he is going. He is mad because he skated into a bigger player. Saying you are going to swing your stick at the next guy is dumb both if you have no intent to do it or if you do. Every stick infraction from here out will be treated suspiciously for this guy.
