This offseason has been a torture for them so far. They hate Holland even more than some Canucks fans hate Benning. And that says something! Love their misery though, they ran over us for years, &^@# em.

Did Benning inquire with the Devils what it would take to trade for him? Who knows? Leddy is with Detroit. Benning might have inquired. Oleksiak and Larsson were poached by Seattle. Due to the expansion draft, only Seattle had first Krak. Benning would be crucified to trade for either player, considering that they were heading to free agency in 7 days. We'll see what unfolds.
TheCustodian
Unfortunate, I wonder if he would have signed that deal in Vancouver without the expansion draft. Looks like 9th OA should be in play for a defenseman.

Agreed and further to that, it's been confirmed that Benning was in on Graves. Leddy is 30 years old and another offence minded LHD that comes with a 5.5 mill cap hit. Acquiring either him or Graves, both definitely roster players, prior to ED would have meant exposing another D to it. Which is worse? Again, all the planning and deals won't be revealed until after the ED. Let's just see what happens. 1

We get to choose 7 new prospects ,for nothing, this weekend. Prospects come and go. Can’t keep them all. It’s the way of the world.

Imagine we gave up an asset for his rights and he just ended up signing in Seattle anyways. It would be pandemonium on here. Some of y’all will never be happy. 1
RWJC
It may end up being a blessing in disguise that we didn't get Larsson through FA. Reading his back issues are the lingering/long term type and that this, in part, could be why he agreed on a lesser AAV deal early rather than the condition be exposed later in UFA negotiations and having to potentially settle for less on either AAV or term. We shall see?

Crap team, crap media. Not good. Your negativity (and a handful of the other usual suspects) is a perfect indictment of your own theory of how players don't want to come here because of the terrible media. RWMc1
I still wonder if there's a deal in place. Seattle will move out some of their picks to get more assets back. I'm still hoping for something like a Schmidt and Holtby plus for Larsson and one of their backup goalies. They can keep those players or flip them again and we gain replacements and cap space. Dare to dream.

What allegiance does Larsson have to Seattle that he would sign with them and immediately permit them to trade his rights to another franchise? Bertuzzipunch
If all of Edmonton, Vancouver, and Seattle offer Larsson 4 million x 4 years, he makes $2.1144 million per year actual income in Edmonton $1.903 million per year actual income in Vancouver (over half his salary goes to taxes) $2.556 million per actual income in Seattle

Highly unlikely, but one can dream, right?
Maddogy
Ken Holland will likely be all in trying to acquire Travis Hamonic. I don't think the loss of Larsson will be a death blow to the Oilers. 1

Only the 50% of the salary is taxed in the team's home state/province. Away games are considered income earned in the province/state that the game is played. Easy choice vs a 4m plus back up...but that is okay he was only a rising prospect with upside who just transitioned to C last season, but we will trade a pick to protect a newly acquired player instead of our own home grown talent. Not shocked at all by this, Coach Green didn't trust either Gadj or Lind in their supposed show case last season so no shock to me at all be chose to expose our own prospects, gotta try to win now to save the GM and coaches jobs. I think DIckinson will do well for us, just sad to see a recent 2nd rounder go without us giving them much of a chance to see what they could do. Kraken, go the cheap route and make teams sweat out the bad contracts I hope!!! Yep. And save a huge balloon amount to go shopping next year. Grab a top Dman from the next crop of ufa's too. What's the cap minimum? I read a mock draft that they could get everything they need at 64M.

So he get (let’s say) 2 mil take home pay, but multiply that by 20%. So really it’s the same. 1
