If it ends up top 12 this year and then NYI keeps it then typically it becomes an unprotected the next year and 2024 is deep in high end D prospects You play the long ball 204. One of Boeser or Garland. hopefully both... we don't need them, they are taking Hogander and Podz spots. Don’t know much about Raty but he sounds like decent piece. Borderline NHL ready, good size, physical centre, goes to net, hard if not quick shot. Does sound like needs work on skating which is concerning as every year the game is more and more about skating.

I have no faith in them drafting in the 1st unless it’s some consensus guy that falls into their lap Guess we'll see, hopefully this is just the beginning of us selling Maybe we'll get lucky and draft high enough that management can't possibly flub it

Sell.the.team
initial gut is very underwhelmed. Guess time will tell. A bit confused about the top 12 protected pick. Is it an unprotected 2024 if not?

Angry Goose
Beauvillier was often rumoured in a Boeser swap. Fast but another smaller winger. I wonder if 2/3 Garland/Boeser/Beau will be moved as well
Popular Post Warhippy
For reference Jim Benning: Ryan Kesler with a full NTC to a divisional rival (29 years old $5 million) for 1 season for Sbisa (23 years old $2.2 million) Bonino (24 years old $1.9 million) 1st (McCann) and a 3rd (Keegan Iverson) vs Jimpat Ruthervin: Bo Horvat no NTC (28 years old pro rated $2.17 million) for Beauvelier (25 years old $4.15 million 1 year left) Raty (20 years old $.9 million) 1st round pick top 12 protected What do the Canucks need? What exactly did they get? They got another Connor Garland with platforms in Beauvelier who is a UFA next year and could walk fr nothing and a ? in Raty which does not help their youth, doesn't get them an RHD or an RHC. Sorry; this deal works in that assets went left and right but in no way does it actually help Vancouver. It wreaks like a deal being made for the sake of making a deal and when weighed against each other Benning absolutely got the better return at THAT specific point in time. 1 1 1 1 1

Popular Post TheCammer
A 1st rounder is only a good return if you have confidence in those making the selection. Last year's pick appears to be leaning towards a bust. Protected from Top 12. Beauvillier can't seem to stay healthy or play with any consistency. Raty............prospect.........nothing more. Trade Alvin & His Chipmunks. Trade Francesco. Trade Trader Jim. Hope I'm wrong. Doubt I am. Edited January 30, 2023 by TheCammer 2 1 1

Makes a difference Yes, because if Vancouver had waited until the deadline without getting a good offer for Bo, the price goes down because all a team has to do is wait until July 1 and sing him without giving up anything. That's why this is a very smart move to get out in front early. I don't think Lamoriello makes that deal at the deadline.
elvis15
I'll have to check out the return, but I still would have rather traded Miller last year for whatever we could get, and signed Bo early if he was willing. Instead, we waited, and we had to move Horvat. Of course, if Horvat didn't want to sign early and bank on himself having a run like he has, then it still might have complicated things. Similarly if the best returns for Miller were filled with negative value, but we may never know. Good luck, Bo. I'll have to follow the Isles a little more closely now. 48MPHSlapShot
Pretty underwhelming tbh. At least we got a center prospect back and not a winger. Annoyed that we didn't address the blueline at all.
