  1. I don't like this "Team like That' rallying cry.  Get over it, Doughty said it out of frustration and over the past 5 years this team has sucked.  If this team gets swept in the first round they'll still be a 'team like that'.  It's ok to use it as bulletin board material against the Kings but time to let it go - this team doesn't need to go down the Hurricane 'bunch of jerks' road, it's pathetic.  Just my two cents.

      @coastal.view

Am I suppose to sing out your response?

It reads like lyrics to a song

      You say lighten up

and not let Doughty rain on our parade

Then why care what he says in the first place?

      That's my point

This team is rolling and doesn't need the motivation

Even if they do, keep it internal.

      Be better than that

      Just my two cents

  2. Craig Button offered some words of encouragement on THN last night.  Said the rebuild is going to be a lot faster than most people realise and we got a fairly well stacked pool of prospects at every position.

Oh yeah. I'm happy with the return we got for Burr and Hansen. Their time as mentors was served, and we got something decent for both of them. No argument from me.

Maybe, but I'll take someone whose opinions are, more times than not, fairly accurate and a little condescending over some of our local media who are, more times than not, turd sandwiches any day.

@Tre MacThere was a lot of fighting and more than one ban as a result of that thread if I remember right.  It's probably why you don't see very many flare-ups about religion here.  When they do start, most people rush to try and put out the fire before it explodes.

    3. Toews

      Toews

Yes, its best to avoid the subject of religion entirely. It would be nice if we could discuss religion without all the drama but that seems unlikely. For many theists their religion shapes their entire world view and they don't take kindly to having their entire belief system attacked and ridiculed.

    4. SabreFan1

      SabreFan1

I believe in God, but if somebody attacks and ridicules God over the internet, I rarely bother responding to it.  It's like when somebody puts 3 6's in their username.  They're usually looking for attention and they think that they are being edgy.

Most atheists that I've known don't begrudge people who have religious beliefs as long as those same people aren't trying to forcefully convert them.  I can understand that because I'm a non-denominational Christian and there's a reason why I wouldn't answer my door if a Jehovah's Witness or Mormon were knocking at it.

  4. Anyone applied for a passport recently?  I went to the Canadian website and called the automated line, do I have to go to a passport center for an application or are those available at the nearest post office?  Not in a hurry so I don't mind mailing it in.

      Whuuu?

There's no connection between your wasted tax dollars and our health care.

Fillings aren't essential. Just block a slap shot with your face.

    3. SabreFan1

      SabreFan1

@luckylager I want to keep trolling you on the tax dollar thing but I think you're starting to take me seriously.

One time when I was in the hospital, there was a young guy with a new wife upstairs in the ICU who ignored a cavity, it rotted a hole eventually to the soft tissue and got infected and traveled to his brain.  He died 2 days later from the swelling in his brain.

An unhealthy mouth has also been proven to have detrimental effects on a person's heart.  It's a shame that Canada's healthcare doesn't cover cavities.  It probably costs as much or more in the long run to the healthcare system in adverse effects.

    4. luckylager

      luckylager

      @SabreFan1

Was merely clowning a bit myself.

Here's the thing though. You can literally walk into the hospital in agony due to a cavity and they'll pull the tooth.

I'd say (even though I don't have the numbers) it's extraordinarily rare for someone to die from an abscess in Canada.

-"Errrr ma gerd ma tooth hurty, pull it out"

MD- "Ok, just hold your head still, I'm gonna fire a puck at you"

      - "Aim high Doc, hurts deep"

      *clap*

      *pop*

Doc gets out the dust buster, cleans up the hole, gives you a bunch of drugs and sends you home.

Yes, a healthy mouth is very important to your overall well being and it should be part of our national health care system. But it's not.

However dental emergency is. Extreme pain caused by a cavity or impacted wisdom teeth is accepted at the hospital and will be treated (properly, without pucks) there.

  7. If you could pick one player we could of drafted in hindsight who would it be?  Jagr at a time with no salary cap? Would he have gelled with bure even though they played the same position?  My pick would be Karlsson.  I think he would put us over the top at a time when we already had a powerhouse.  Maybe this should of been a thread lol.

Yeah, I absolutely hate thieves.  I'm fine with helping addicted people as long as they don't steal to support their habit.  But the ones who do steal belong in prison until they're willing to behave like people.  Canada is far too soft on property crime.

      good luck

i actually baked bread for a couple of years in a bakery

people under estimate the value of a good proofer (a climate where humidity and warm conditions allow yeast to properly flourish and rise your bread)

the break maker provides this quite well
