Realistically I see the Canucks having a chance to win 4 or 5 more games this season: NJ, OTT, LA, maybe EDM and NYR.
So right at 73 pts again. But I still think the team has improved, is more competitive and has a better base to build from.

@VanGnome yeah my political party and hockey team are imploding at the same time.... I wonder if there's a connection?
-
@Jimmy McGill I don't revel in the implosion of any federal party, certainly not when they are in sole governance of the country, but it does say something that it's all coming apart at the seams, what it is saying exactly I'm not sure. If nothing else, I think it simply illustrates how untenable it is to govern from one extreme to the other and highlights that there needs to be a better way forward.

The best part of TDL day was TheGuardian_ being an Eklund rumour source.

If you count Leivo, we did more than Calgary leading up to today

Buffalo has become smart Edmonton.

@SabreFan1 Do you still get Scott Norwood nightmares every once in a while?
-
@Elias Pettersson Nah. We chanted Norwood's name downtown during a rally after they got back. The Giants just had a master plan and played it to perfection.
I still hold a grudge against Dallas though.
-
the hockey gods have a cruel sense of humour, we might be out of the playoffs and everyone we could have dealt at the TDL is on the IR.
-
Sometimes teams poop the bed. Thats all last night was, time to move on.
-
If the playoffs started today, we'd face Calgary. We'd never be expected to win that.... but if we did it would be (insert answer here).

Go! Go! Go!

Hockey Reference gives the Canucks a 37.5% chance of making the playoffs, based on 1000 simulations for the rest of the season.

I predict 5.75 mil per, 3 year deal for Edler this week.

tied for a wild card. 8 points from last place in the west. what a goofy season.

Parity is alive and well in a CAP NHL. The bigger spread in the East masks some seriously close games. No team is running away and putting their name on the Cup this year. Any one of 20 teams could do it given a decent bit of health luck, hot goaltending and some timely scoring. Even a team like Oilers, Coyotes, Canucks or Blues could take on a Calgary or Nashville and beat them in first round.
-
@Rob_Zepp it would be a long shot, but its certainly possible if the team depth is there.

Looks like its an AHL backup for the Leafs game on Saturday

@luckylager - no we broke the seal with yesterdays win. Backups shall now be crushed.

Judd Brackett on Quinn Hughes: “He’s the best skater I’ve ever seen.”

This would be more meaningful to me if he said this BEFORE Hughes was drafted. Now it is more likely patting yourself on the back a la Burke saying that they had Morgan Reilly ranked #1 overall.
I have no doubt Hughes is an incredible skater, but would prefer to hear him evaluated by someone that doesn't already have skin in the game.

you just don't see truck nuts as often as you used to. victim of #metoo I suppose.

I'm astounded that EP40 has only taken 67 shots this year. What happens when he starts shooting?

I'm cooking for 16 and drinking for 2 tonight.

Dirt Track Date is the best southern rock album ever imo.

Is Benning the only GM that won in the Nylander fiasco? Leivo's a gem.

EP40: 17-G A1-11 A2-7
Rasmus Dahlin: 3-G A1-6 A2-10
Nico Hischier: 7-G A1-5 A2-8
Just found this interesting. Info on primary and secondary assists can be found here: http://www.nhl.com/stats/player?report=skaterscoring&reportType=season&seasonFrom=20182019&seasonTo=20182019&gameType=2&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=pointsPer60Minutes

Petey has great offensive and defensive instincts with the only areas that need a lot of improvement being getting the puck out of our zone (like Boeser and other young players) and face-offs.... In 2-3 years we will have one of the best centres in the league! Potentially the best centre depth lineup as well... Petey, Horvat, Gaudette, Beagle, Madden.

Rathbone is currently ranked above Boqvist in NHL d prospect rankings.

These are statistical rankings. Dobson is having a weak season on a terrible team so he isn't on it @Chip Kelly
-
@Time Lord how does Jett Woo have better stats than Dobson still? Woo is supposed to be a stay at home type defensive d man, who occasionally contributes offence like Erik Gudbranson was when drafted.
-
Don't look now but Horvat's on pace for 34 goals, 70 pts.

I think we're "pulling a Buffalo", go on a 20 game losing streak, secure a top pick, and then improve rapidly for the rest of the year.
