Would Goldobin and a 2nd be “mortgaging our future?” Or would that be a reasonable package for a top six forward?

Id make the suggested trade for Stone. I know he’s a coming UFA, but I think him playing with Petey would convince him to sign long term with us. Stone is a friggin’ hockey player. And yes; I’ve been into the whisky.
-
Stone would be intriguing but I figure he'll also make UFA tbh. Someone could trade for him and blow his socks off financially but I doubt it. These guys know if they hit July 1st there will be a bidding war for their services. I'd love to have him though.
Problem is he's the type of a player a contender goes after to push em over the top, we're in a dogfight just to make the playoffs. Only way I'd consider a trade is if there was a concrete extension involved.
I don't wanna lose assets for nothing and potentially miss out on someone great.

Very much agree. I doubt Benning makes any trades unless its a player for player trade with term. Cant see Benning trading any picks with the way he keeps talking about the upcoming draft in Vancouver. I do think a Sutter trade right now makes a lot of sense. Maybe a team like Pittsburg hows looking to solidify their middle comes knocking.

Future Vancouver Canuck Micheal Ferland

Most players are attracted to $$$ especially for those like Ferland (might best time for him to sign a big money deal - it’s not like he’s made Eriksson money in his career so far). Unlike Hamhuis who signed here at a discount because he has ties here, Ferland will go to the highest bidder (my opinion).
edit: another thing, while I agree Ferland is having a solid season...but since when is he a bona fide top 6 forward? Bae has put up more points than him in his career in fewer games (heh, because he's hurt alot, he's been out alot but still...). His career year of 41 points (last season) I *think* he was on Monahan's line for a good chunk of that. If Goldy played with EP all season long, he'll likely hit that point level (he's on a 40+ point pace this season as it is).

Could someone find a way to get McDavid as far away from Edmonton as possible?

What would Ottawa want for Mark Stone if they entertained the idea of trading him? A roster player, a couple top prospects, and a pick or two maybe?

LOL he's a ufa people he's not getting Virtanen and Gaudette and a first LMAO!! Man....ya they can ask for that but for a dude who might not even be resigned bc he's a ufa, they ain't getting that.
If traded, he's going as a rental, so he'll get the late first from a high seeded playoff team plus a B to B+ prospect and if he re-signs with the team who traded for him, probably a conditional second.
Anyone thinking Ottawa is getting a haul for a guy who a team has no years of control over past July 1 for the acquiror, is not thinking clearly.

It’s amazing how mad people get at their own team for winning games like they’re supposed to do.

I think they do need another high pick. They show a ton of heart and can find ways to win games, but I don't think that that is enough to get them to where they want to be. This team still has holes on the back-end especially that get exposed against better teams. Another top-4 dman on the right side and a guy to play on Petey's LW is what they need... but I won't cheer for them to lose just so they get those things.
-
I think this team has the tools to start winning very soon and doesn't need another top pick. While the team may not yet be good enough, if Juolevi and Hughes can join the team and make an impact, our team is instantly much better. I'd rather barely missed the playoffs and pick 15th than go on a bad losing skid and pick 7th. Our boys need to feel some hope. Too much losing does bad things to a team.

I’m HOPING this puts an end to the trade Edler talk.

But if a team is willing to give up a 1st round pick for him... Just promise him a job in the future...
If he truly cares about this city and this team, he would waive if it meant improving the team's future. Could he be part of this team's future? Maybe. He could Nicklas Lidstrom it.
Just so Edler knows, I have tremendous respect for Burrows and Hansen. No judgement either way, he earned his spot here.
I'm definitely on the fence with this one. We've been proposing trading him for years, but now he's actually playing well consistently and is statistically our best D in Canucks history.

Anyone have that one friend who barely ever talks to girls then he gets one date and all of a sudden he’s giving you advice like he’s a dating expert?

@Phil_314No kids. I decided in my mid-20's never to marry or have children. I may end up breaking the marriage thing once I reach my mid-50's and the dating life slows down, but I'll never have children.
I'm in my 40's now so I have plenty of philandering left to do.

@SabreFan1 I could ask him since he’s making it sound so easy why doesn’t have a girlfriend himself.
-
@Pears That should shut him up.

Jacob Markstrom since November 29th: 9-2-0, 1.90 GAA, .935 save percentage. Incredibly impressed with how he’s turned it around.

Ian Clark is a goaltending wizard and the Canucks must do everything in there power to keep him in the organization for as long as possible.
That said, I'm very happy with how Markstrom has been playing and I cannot wait to see how Ian Clark works with Thatcher Demko. If anybody is going to get Demko to the upper echelon's of NHL goaltending, it'll be Ian.

Still hasn’t really set in yet that I’ll be going to the World Juniors next weekend. So excited.

So how long before we file an unsafe work place lawsuit against the NHL? I’ve had enough. This is getting ridiculous.

NHL “””Player Safety””” is an absolute disgrace

The homerism leafsnet has been showing lately is bordering on unprofessional.

Ridiculous stat of the day: 26 of Pettersson’s 30 points are primary.

Nikita Scherbak is on waivers today. That’s about as easy as a claim as there’s been in awhile IMO.

Since around July I’ve been having these dreams about us going on deep playoff runs this year. Been a while since I had one but last night I had another one and it was the most vivid one yet. Could it be a sign of things to come?

Well tonight went about as sideways as it could get at work.

Our original closer bailed on us a half hour before his shift which screwed me over, then the kitchen had to send one of their guys in to help me which in turn screwed them over and one of my friends was having a really bad night so I had to spend an extra 5 minutes on my break trying to calm her down. Overall just brutal.
