What is with these earthquakes today???
-
The Myers signing after all is pretty good value considering what the going rate for top 4 RD is. Benn will be an awesome fit too. All in all, I’m pretty happy with how we made out today.
-
My god the way some people are talking about Myers it’s like we’re about to sign Marchand or Messier again. Never seen anything like it.

This is what I don't understand. Is it not the player, or are they afraid of the dollar amount?
For years on CDC there was trade proposals for Myers. Now that he's a UFA everyone is against signing him.
Is it because Jake got 52 points two years ago? Because Myers got 36, but 9 of those were goals.
Is it the 1 year age difference?
Or is the real fear if we sign Myers the team will give up on Tram?
-
the issue is term and how long his career will be relevant. the amount is part of it, but mostly because of the cap crunch we will be it and will get further into. it has nothing to do with the player. 4yrs at 6 mil would be alright because when petey and hughes get big pay checks, edler and several others will be off the books.

With the reactions to anything and everything Benning does it’s miracle anyone takes us seriously at all.
-
If losing a prospect who’s 5 years away at least gets this kind of reaction over adding an immediate 45-55 points then people really need to sit down and straighten out their priorities.

Just because they were up against the cap and had to deal him doesn't mean that they wont miss JT Miller the player. We gave up a 17-31 OA pick, a nothing goalie, and a 3rd for a top 6 player with size on a good contract for 4 more years. You hope the 1st rd pick turns into a JT Miller in 5 years time.
-
@I.Am.Ironman - If the pick given up is actually between 17-31OA, then I have no problem with this deal. The problem is that if we miss the playoffs next year and the year after, there is always a chance that we lose a lottery pick in 2021. That is a big risk, particularly since this team has not yet shown it is playoff ready. Hopefully Miller helps us get there, but until it happens, this is a very risky deal.
-
The likelihood of missing playoffs each of the next 2 years is pretty low given our trajectory and prospects now transitioning to NHL. If we make the playoffs one of the next 2 years then the highest pick we give up will be 17thOA. Making a (reasonable) play for Myers or Ristolainen makes a lot of sense now.

Andrew Walker stirring the pot

Would anyone package the 10th pick for Shayne Gostisbehere now?
-
Kind of unreal how many people (Blues fans) don’t understand 30 games isn’t enough to win the Calder.
-
Boston really had a pity party for losing in the Finals

Boo Hoo for Boston, they bought themselves a Worlds Series last year, they won the Superbowl more times than can be believed, and they were as cocky as usual figuring they would win the Stanley Cup Again.
I love seeing cocky attitudes put in their place and loved that a team won their first Stanley Cup
Congratulations again to the ST. LOUIS BLUES.

2018 - Capitals win their first cup
2019 - Blues win their first cup
2020 - tbd

@6string Did you forget about the Sabres? Both 1970 teams.

It’s actually stunning the lengths the anti Benning crew will go to refuse to give him any kind of credit for where we are now.

Bashing for the sake of bashing is ridiculous. Benning is a decent GM, but he has definite weak points.
I want him to stay in the job for another couple years because he's a top notch young talent evaluator and that's exactly what the Canucks need right now.
I'd like ownership to get a Pres. of hockey ops that can pick up the slack with Benning's weaker points. Unfortunately Linden wasn't that guy.
-
Seeing Boston only has $14.3 million in cap space and also has to re-sign Heinen, Acciari, Carlo and Johansson, would anyone sign Charlie McAvoy to an offer sheet?
-
Seeing these groups of people in Jurassic Park and other places across Toronto cheering for Durant’s injury make me sick. I don’t like the guy but you don’t ever stoop to that level. At least a good chunk at the game gave him a standing ovation when he was walking off. Really hope Tim and Sid put them on blast tomorrow.
-
What was that about Benning not being able to draft in the mid-late rounds?

@NewbieCanuckFan McCann was a 1st round pick. The graph is about teams success in the 3rd-7th rounds.
-
Goldobin, Hutton and a 3rd to Minnesota for Jason Zucker. Fair deal?
-
$10.5Mx7 offer sheet for Mitch Marner. Absolute most we could do without giving up 4 1sts. Do you do it?
-
Would anyone do Goldobin and a 3rd for J.T. Miller? And would it be fair?
-
Rumour of a Pittsburgh-Minnesota trade involving Kessel and Zucker. Tbh Pittsburgh could get a bit more but it’s close to fair value.

@Wilbur I think their goal is to get younger and faster. They certainly get younger with Zucker but not sure about faster.
-
Safe to say that even after the refs did everything they could to drag them through the playoffs and they STILL lost, the Sharks will never win a Cup?
-
Boo Hoo Joe,time to take your hillbilly beard and your finger pointing into retirement.
I thought these guys were actually going to win the Cup because of all the breaks the refs gave them, and I am glad they lost. Got no respect for that tool THORNTON,after that classless finger in the face move to a Hall Of Fame great player like Henrik Sedin,
-
Idk which is worse Canucks fans thinking we can get a top 2 pick for spare parts and extra pieces or Devils/Rangers fans thinking it’ll take Pettersson, Boeser and multiple 1sts to get said pick
-
iMac got ratioed pretty good here

What’s the most everyone would be willing to give up for PK Subban? Honestly anyone outside of the big 5 and the 10th overall I’d bring him over in a heartbeat.
