Is Lind projected to be a top 10 PK specialist? He has been known to have his head down a lot, doesn’t read the game well enough to spot danger. that said he is a good player and should grind out a career in the NHL but he is not the second coming of Gretzky or Bergeron Edited July 17, 2021 by UKNuck96
bigbadcanucks
5 minutes ago, Beary Sweet said: Good pick up. Dickinson has some potential and a solid 2 or 3C. You can utilize him on the PK and very solid on face offs. This likely marks the end for Sutter. Now, get Huggy Bear and Petey locked up! You do realize Dickison is a career 44% on face-offs, right? If that's your definition of "very solid" on face offs, then you may want to re-calibrate. All in all, a good pick up...marked improvement on on-ice performance and potential cap hit vs. Brandon Sutter. Dickison has been pretty durable over the past two seasons, also an improvement over Sutter. Only metric that needs to be improved in face-offs (as many have already stated). Would very much prefer going into the new season with Dickison as third line centre than what the Canucks have had over the past few seasons. Nice trade by JB. 1

True, but going to a new team that sees you as their key shut down center and pker, and will prolly want you to work specifically on draws. I imagine you go hard to fix that. Maybe that's just me, but faceoffs are something you can 100% progress on

If Kole Lind can carve out a career as a David Bolland-type player, I would be thrilled.

TheCerebral1
Dickinson is definitely a good get, he'll improve the defensive zone play in the bottom six. More than likely Sutter's replacement.

Gourde Point and cirelli were all below 50%. I would much rather have his 11 extra turnovers than worry about his 22 faceoff losses. Very little offense is generated from faceoffs, odd man rushes is where the danger comes from. 5vs5 play wins games and 80% of 5vs5 shifts are on the fly
Dannydog
It wont be under 2 mill so no point in setting yourself up for some disappointment. At 3mill would be great.

I guess technically it would be the delta/difference between Lind and however they would have otherwise taken if Lind was protected (Gadjovich?). There isn't a ton of daylight between the two players to me honestly. No idea if either of them ever becomes a meaningful NHLer. The cost of using up a protection slot certainly has to be factored into any pre-expansion trade costs... that is the entire point of this extra trade deadline, leveraging those spots. If you count Lind on the "cost"side of the trade, you have to count who we would have otherwise lost if it wasn't Lind on the "return" side because we have that player and wouldn't have otherwise.
