[Speculation] Canucks to make a pitch for Mason Marchment

Recommended Posts

Unless he comes cheaper than $3M, I’d pass. Don’t want overpaid 3rd liners.  Unless a trade happens, don’t think he will play in the top 6.  If not in the top 6, you can expect a drop in his production.  So then ask yourself, is he worth north of $3M getting 20-30pt?

Maybe he’ll be a Ferland replacement??

Marchment I’m open too but I do think signing him means no Forsberg.

can’t sign 3 LW in one offseason with no 3C!

id be very open to a marchment signing though.

i think he’s the kind of guy who could play shutdown minutes, or top 6 minutes and be a physical force with enough skill to feed off our high end guys.

would be a type of player that would really benefit us.

if we signed marchment and copp for less money that could have been Forsberg that’s not bad.

He would be a difference maker in the playoffs for EP40 I think.

im just worried he gets a crazy overpayment.

I don't get what being undrafted has to do with anything if he's in the NHL now. If anything, the fact he's here despite being undrafted is a positive, not a negative. It says he has a work ethic and wasn't propped up by GMs wanting to see their own picks have success to pad their resume. Whether or not Marchment would be a good signing is entirely dependent on how much/how long his contract is.

Kind of like Alex Burrows?  Not comparing players but hard work can sure pay off

He's an intriguing player for sure, but that type of jump in production that late into his career raises all sorts of questions. How does that type of jump on production even happen?

It also looks like he's dealt with some pretty significant injuries as well.

There are some rumors indicating that perhaps Marchment may be the mystery forward the Canucks will pursue to potentially replace JT Miller

Where did you get the bold from?

If management sees Marchment as a potentially replacement for Miller, we’re in trouble.

It’s so hard (at least for me) to gauge what Marchment should be worth on the market.

I’m really interested to see what he gets, both salary and term, after what he showed last season.

I’m seeing people throw around $2.5-3.5M AAV on social media, which would be a heck of a bargain, if he maintains anything close to his 2021-22 stats.

Top 6 LW with sandpaper is just what this team needs.

Sign Marchment

sign Trocheck

Trade or move  Myers, Dickenson, Poolman, Pearson, Ferland,

Trade Miller to NJ for Zacha, Sieganthaller, and a pick

Trade Garland for Marino

Move Hughes to play on the right side with a shut down defenceman. He is good enough to learn how to play that side.

Marchment Pettersson Boeser

Zacha Horvat Hoglander

Kuznetsov Trocheck Podkolzin

Highmore Lammikko Lockwood

Sieganthaller Hughes

OEL Marino

Rathbone Schenn

Dermott Boroughs

Gives us much needed size and can plug him in anywhere in the top 9.

Petey/Miller/Boeser/Horvat/Garland/Podkolzin/Kuzmenko/Marchment/Hoglander would give us tons of depth in the top 9. Would look to ship Pearson out and get a 3C but I wouldn’t mind giving Dickinson another shot.
