      If you've been playing sports enough to make it to the highest professional level, there's a certain level of pride and drive to never want to lose, or you would never make it, let alone stay at that level. To me, throwing a so-called "meaningless" game near the end of the season is like a professional boxer throwing a fight for gambling reasons. It shows an absolute LACK of character and no respectable professional would do so.

      Rybar is in his mid-20's and has no NHL claim on him so I dunno how well he'd do in NA.  Zagidulin plays in the KHL's feeder league if I remember correctly.

      AZ posted ridiculous numbers when he was in the KHL for a month, though. Granted, he's on one of the top clubs. Too bad the Oilers just snagged Koskinen.

      If I were the Sabres, I'd go backup goalie trolling and make a trade.  That's how they got Hasek cheaply from the Red Wings in the 90's.  Let the new guy and Ullmark battle it out for the starter job while Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen spends the year developing in the Liiga in Finland.

      Loved the Latvian Locomotive, he was fast and could hit hard. Wonder what ever happened to him. Watching Matthews in the playoffs, I wasn't impressed. One goal in 7 playoff games?

      Agreed. Just strictly from a PR perspective, if you're trying to sell "the future", giving the C to someone like Edler or some other stopgap would be extremely counterproductive.
