      I would be pi**ed, but not surprised. JR said when he was hired that this team is not in the part of the cycle where they are a playoff team/contender (yet), and said there is a lot of work to do, they need to clear cap, they need to get younger and faster, etc. The chances of making the playoffs is very slim - they can't lose more than 6 games the rest of the way. Selling some players now will give them a bigger returns. That friggin false hope gets them every time.

      I'd hope we find good deals for Motte, maybe even Halak.  The guys with term (Poolman, Hamonic, Miller, Myers, Boeser given that we qualify him) will be moveable even later on, but it'd be best to not let Motte walk after seeing what Hagel and Jarnkrok got recently.

      @Devron44 His second season with us was better than most remember, but he had injury problems, so he couldn't really finish with high numbers.

      @-AJ- I seem to remember that. First couple seasons he was definitely an alright player - money aside. It’s been the last 2 that have been unbearable. He had a effective small run with Bo and Pearson there. But overall very underwhelming

      Agreed, if Petey works on his draws over the offseason and can get a healthy summer of training in I believe him and Bo could be a good 1/2 punch

       

      Next season should be fun

      @Chickenspearexactly - proves he is not ready to be a highly paid hockey player.  You don't see other $7 million a year plus players "struggling" because of a coach. 

      Just saying.  

      The reality was Pettersson was a contract hold out and was not ready to play when the season started - wouldn't have mattered who was coaching - took him 20 plus games to get in game shape.

      remember the first roadtrip.

      Detroit and Buffalo were also supposed to be beatable teams. Even tough Canucks lost both games.

      Look at the last game against Chicago.

      Chicago is a bad team and when they came into town they were tired.

      Nevertheless Van couldn't take advantage of it.

      This team is done.

      The first road trip was decent. Detroit we dominated. The only game I was disappointed with was Buffalo. No one showed up to that one. Expected a win I suppose. They are done when they are done

      @Ghostsof1915They are lacking in the futures department. Besides the Bluechippers like Krebs and Chayka, it's pretty barren. Plus they would need to dump salary if they want to swing a trade which would cost them extra. Big yikes there.

      Flames are about to have 3 x 40 goal scorers - something the Canucks have never done.  

      We lost last night cause our "30 goal" scorers couldn't beat a backup goalie.

      (Pettersson got 1 but he was -2 on the night)

    Watching the Flyers and can’t help but notice the similarities. They had a brutal season last year as well and didn’t fire their coach. Went out and made some big player changes. Record is better than Vans this year but fair to say they are just as much struggling. Can’t score. Their young players are struggling Farabee and Konecny

    I find it funny that the Leafs media is asking Matthews questions about his contract. He’s under contract for 2 more years! Literally is not allowed to sign a deal right now. Ridiculous this stuff people talk about that’s so far away. Reminds me of the Miller trade deadline talks 6 months before the deadline. Enjoy the moment people

    I’ve been excited about Demko since the day we drafted him. It’s kinda cool to see it all come together after following him since. I’ve noticed he’s been getting recognized as a Top 5 goaltender across the league. We are so lucky to have him

      I’ve been meaning to ask about this as it’s my first off-season on this forum. I notice a fair number of regulars have disappeared and I was wondering I’d it’s because so many people here get cranky when they’re bored. Do most come back or is this normal turnover?

      @4petesake it's just regular as people are out on lakes and camping, and such...  Once the rains come back in September/October, so do the members...  then again we should ask @-Vintage Canuck- and @-DLC- as they're the bosses around here and maybe have an insight into analytics.  Don't mention my Corsi For % please :ph34r:

      Yep, I think you're right VH.  Sun is out and we're finally allowed out of our cages so people are living life (again).

      Some were suspended due to illegal hits to the head (aka giving us all a headache). 

       

      Some fade out until there's "news" that's worthy of returning for or the season gets underway.

       

      Most do return at some point.  It's always nice to see familiar faces come back.
