Vancouver might be the best way to have a bit more control over his situation, if he comes to prove himself in that single season, and proves good worth, if he goes to UFA the next season, He can still go as a proven NHL’r to any team. obviously there is some apprehension in signing a player that might decide to return to mother Russia.. I’m pretty sure the Canucks own rights until July 1st, 2022. So Nik would need to re-up for 2 more years in the KHL to wait out Vancouver’s NHL rights. Probably better just to come back to the NHL on a two-year deal with the Canucks. He’ll be 27 on July 1st, 2022 and 28 by the start of the 2022-23 season.
