Canucks are going to win again aren't they... don't know whether to feel happy or sad by this. Part of me really wants to see our draft odds go up and the other part of me is glad to see Goldy and other young guys playing well
-
Canucks just don't have enough star power. Some of our young generation will evolve into the players we need, but a top 10 pick and another 1st would set this team up for years
-
The Coyotes don't have enough starpower, the Islanders don't have enough starpower. What separates them from us is they battle relentlessly all the time and have good coaching staff. I'm tired of this "we need more starpower" BS, it doesn't fix the team playing sloppy and having stale systems that don't work. Also, knowing Green, whatever starpower we get in the future will be mismanaged and someone like Leivo will have more one-time than the star.

Chicken strips at Tims... what is the world coming to.
-
Considering Granlund's deployment 5G 11P is pretty damn good. If he keeps this pace up he will be around 15G 35P which is pretty good considering his 3rd/4th line deployment and line mates.
-
Crazy to think the Canucks are 18th in the league but only 5 points separate them from 28th. A lot of western conference opponents in a compact 3 week schedule before the deadline. Will be interesting to see how this team handles the pressure and whether their conditioning holds up. If they fall out of the race I can still see us becoming sellers.

Damn these injuries are coming in fast. 6 guys out tonight: Sutter, Edler, Tanev, Virtanen, Baertschi and Demko. We will probably have another injury tonight at this pace, my guess is Roussel.

@-AJ- He's becoming Salo
-
Everyone out hear trying to trade Rathbone for pretty much nothing. How about we give the kid some NHL games before saying he's too small or poor defensively. How many of you have actually watched him instead of just looking at his stats/ height weight metrics?

@Alflives I am concerned if new management groups want to clear out old inventory, in an attempt of some sorts to get rid of the remnants of the old regime.
There's nothing wrong with Dipietro, Woo, and Bones. They're all prospects, except maybe Bones, who's as close to show time as anyone else.
-
Excited that the management group isn't rushing in our prospects anymore. Sign Eberle and Del Zotto and let guys like Boeser and Juolevi develop more. Patience is going to be key with this rebuild if we want to compete again anytime soon

@canuktravella Well, it's 10:00 pm, so he would technically be "night drunk".

For myself it doesn't really matter what happens the rest of the year. We make the playoffs, Im happy. We get a top 15 draft pick in a deep draft, Im happy. This team is playing competitive games in March primarily off the play of our younger core players. Not to mention Hughes is having an astonishing year and should win the Calder
-
Me too...I feel exactly the same way. I've seen some GREAT games this year and I'll feel bad for the team if they don't get in, but also commend them on a great effort.
There have been some good takeaways from the year. Still not counting them out, but it's a bad time to hit a skid so very well could end up that way in a tight race. -
there's no point in setting your hair on fire and freaking out over the team, is going to do what its going to do at this point. Calling for coaching changes, etc. is just silly.
Their fate is still in their hands despite the latest road bumps too.
If they do fall short its also very easy to see what changes are needed, thankfully its not much.

Going to be nice next year to have guys you actually WANT to see called up from the minors. Whether thats Gaudette, Dahlen, Chatfield, Demko, Brisebois, MacEwen, Palmu, Lind, Hughes?etc. It will be fun to have the ability to call up some of our best prospects.
-
Great night of hockey! Boeser and the triple B line just lighting it up! Will say that if Virtanen isn't going to play more then he should be in Utica playing big minutes and having the ability to practice more. When Gaunce comes up, send virtanen down
-
Hearing some Hutton bashing on the radio. Out of curiosity am I the only one that thinks Hutton has proved himself a top 4 defensemen this year?
-
Heres hoping for a Guddy-Nylander trade!
-
Honestly, how much worse are we going to be next year if we don't have Tanev? He's an awesome player but its not like he's going to win us games. In the end with or without Tanev we are going to lose majority of the games next year and be bottom of the league. Yes there will be a few more GA but its not going to make much difference. Rather trade Tanev now and sign one or two UFA reclamation project Ds like Girardi, Del Zotto Kulikov or Franson and run with that.
-
How about if you win the lottery you aren't eligible for the spot you picked the next 5 years.
-
I always liked Juulsen's game. Wouldn't be surprised to see someone pick him up off waivers.
-
I can see Virtanen and Gaudette being on the same line for years. They bring a lot of speed, energy and some physicality. Add a Lind or Gadjovich in when Roussel retires and we have a solid third line for years to come!
-
I cant wait for Del Zaster and Pooalot to be replaced by Juolevi and Hughes next year... The D core needs a massive change
-
D Core, not Markstrom, has been causing us to lose games. I mean, I'm at the point where I'd like to see Ashton Sautner and Evan McEneny get legitimate shots in this d-lineup before the end of the season. They'd actually be improvements over The Hitz King and Pouliot. Honestly, I hope Del Zotto gets dealt when Edler comes back. If Michael Kempny can net the Blackhawks a pick at last year's TDL, I'm sure DZ can get the Canucks back... SOMETHING!
-
-
I don't know what the market will be regarding Markov this offseason but he'd be a great guy too sign on a one year deal. Especially if we trade a vet. Guys 38 but had 6 goals, 30 assists, +18 and played 22mins on average! Would be a great player for the short term and then just flip him at the trade deadline!
-
I don't mean to scare everyone here, but what if Megna makes the team out of camp...
-
I don't understand Green sometimes... Baertschi first game back and on PP1?
-
I like Ferraro but he is being very biased towards Canada this game with regard to penalties
-
I wonder if Nilsson has asked for a trade. Hence the recent amount of games and Markstrom having a "minor" injury. Nilsson has not had a great season here and Travis clearly isn't happy with him so I wonder if somethings going on behind the scenes?
-
I wonder if we see Juolevi draw back into game action now that he doesn't have a chance of becoming Seattle expansion eligible.

rafferty was under contract during his college year in 2018/2019.
“Professional Games” includes the following: any NHL Games played, all minor league regular season and playoff games and any other professional games played, including but not limited to, games played in any European league or any other league outside North America, by a Player pursuant to his SPC
so minor league games counted too! according to the cba
i do not understand why teves would be considered eligible, because his contract was signed after the college year finished.
still there may be a source that you are referring to that goes against the CBA?
-
From your article: “Pursuant to his SPC” - standard player contract.
Rafferty did not have an NHL contract in college. College is not a pro league either but an amateur league.
Tryamkin is still Canuck property as RFA but is exempt because his years in the KHL don’t count as he is not under an SPC/NHL contract so only has 2 pro seasons.
Also “For the purpose of this section”. There are different definitions of age, pro years throughout the CBA. They are using the waiver definition of pro years for expansion.
Teves, Rafferty same situation as Fabbro. 1 game while Hughes as teenager needed 10 NHL games.
