Our issue is the top end guys being rusty / finding some chemistry.

Can anyone explain to me why we always struggle to score first?? We always have to claw our way back. Isn’t it easier to play with a lead. So frustrating.

Quinn looks like he hasn't improved his defensive skills at all since last year and might get off to a very quick start as being the worst +/- player in the entire league like last year.  The Canucks better find a Solid babysitter to cover his a$$ on the backkend until he cleans up his defensive play.

Its all there.  You can almost taste it.  Just not enough playing time together.  And Petey and Quinn are still feeling the lag from not being here earlier.  Just not sharp enough yet. A couple more practice games with this basic line up, I'll bet you'd see a different team.  I just hope coaching practice will help enough before the real games start to get them all in some kind of tune.  Please come back soon Boeser.  They really miss him. And Motte and Sutter too.

I don’t know if the Pettersson 1 timer on the PP is going to work anymore unless it’s only tried once in awhile. It’s as though Newell Brown still works here

Well they did choose Chiasson over Gadj. 

Both net front presence guys that score greasy goals. 

I think they need him to work out because they know they gave up a pretty good prospect

My biggest beef with Green this pre-season is his deployment of Garland. He should've been given more time with better quality line mates. He should've been out there late in the game to tie the game up.

 

No idea why Chiasson was out there so much and get so many key situations. I can only think of this as it is a Brock Boeser place holder. But with just over a minute left the tie the game, I would've rather Garland, Hoglander or Pearson out there instead.

Greens fault for playing all the regulars just now, instead of playing them 3 to 4 games ago. You dont need to have Petan start 10 games in a row to see what you have. It was obvious the team didnt play together or have their lines set. As soon as Miller went to top line with extra attacker on, they score. Miller plays best with Pettersson so now am not sure playing him center would be that great. Probably its best to have Dickenson on 3rd line and Dowling on 4th line until Sutter is back. Too bad we only saw an adjustment the last period and another game or 2 would have been good to fine tune the lines and get more practice in. Green's big mistake was icing a 90% AHL lineup every preseason game just to find who can play on 4th line. This was not critical for this team as we needed to see how our new guys like dickenson and Garland would play and gel with all our regulars and which line worked best. Now Green has to experiment in regular season when points are on the line.

Canucks love small soft finesse players.   I personally think Green is afraid to have a strong person in the dressing room that would really contrast against his soft - pussycat - swell guy image and lose what little respect he has left in the dressing room and expose him for ehat he is - A Glorified AHL Coach!
