  1. This is the time of the year where NHL 12 gets boring and you just want NHL 13 to come out.

Nah, they've actually made some pretty good improvements worth buying this year.

I hope the hitting mechanics aren't as brutal as 12.

    4. Pears

The hitting was sooooooooo bad, and yet funny sometimes too. I don't see how when you go to hit a player, the player either drops to his knees, loses balance and drops onto all fours, or fall forward like he got hit from behind. Also what I don't get is how you can hip check a guy and he goes up into the air like your back is a springboard.

  2. 5 points out with 33 games left and people are acting like we’re still in the deficit we were with Green lol.

@Pears You're correct, but it can be surprisingly hard to catch a team when they're playing decently. Although we're only a few points behind, we need to play better than teams that are already pretty decent teams, so we need to play quite well to catch stronger teams. It would be easy to make up 5 points against teams like Arizona or Montreal, but teams like Edmonton, Anaheim, LA, and Dallas don't lose nearly as often, making it surprisingly difficult to pass them all.

I find that it becomes pretty clear what kind of level we need to play at when you do the actual calculations of what it takes. Currently, we need to play at about a .650 level for the remainder of the year to catch up to the bottom of the playoff line. It would become a lot easier if we went on a 5-game winning streak right now though.

With out how many teams involved and multiple with games in hand it is going to take some serious luck to squeak in. Could happen but I sure wouldn't wager on it.

Odd are we're sellers at the deadline.

    4. Undrafted

      Undrafted

I think it's worth noting that having games-in-hand is not necessarily a good thing with the compressed schedules caused by all the postponements.  Having played more games earlier in the season might actually work in the Canucks favour in this particular situation.  Some of the teams who haven't played as many games are going to be playing more than an average of one game every two days

Just because I'm not a huge Trudeau fan doesn't mean I'm going to vote for a racist piece of garbage who supports barbaric social policies.  Cons need to lose the social conservative garbage if they want to be considered electable by me.  As of now, the only non Trudeau option is the NDP.

Really selfish reason:  "I want him on LITR (re: Canucks cap situation)"

How one should feel:  "Hope he's healthy"

    3. JM_

      JM_

if he is healthy then it does solve a top 6 issue for us, I do like the idea of Pearson-Bo-Ferkie as a 2nd line, and if Hoglander makes the team Bo-Ferkie is a pretty good line to begin your career on.

    4. Elias Pettersson

      Elias Pettersson

Ferland would actually put us over the cap if he were healthy.  We would need to trade Baertschi or Sutter to fit Virtanen and Gaudette under the cap.  Probably be easiest to try and trade Sutter at 50% retained.

It's the pitch for families.  They initially won't be allowed inside the bubble until a later stage of the competition.  Edmonton has made arrangements for them to tour around until they can join the bubble.

    3. King Heffy

      King Heffy

The best part of Edmonton is the departures area at YEG.  It's an awful airport, but at least if you're there, you're getting out of that hellhole of a city.  Good luck getting the NHLPA to agree to bringing their families to that dump.  The less they show the city, the better their chances though.

    4. Brad Marchand

      Brad Marchand

I get the nuance behind the video, but there's something hilarious about basically sending the message 'Come to Edmonton! We'll actually help you spend less time in Edmonton while you're here!'

@Ghostsof1915  As well as positions they play.  Not hard set rules but it logically often takes a center, D, or goalie longer to develop than a winger (who doesn’t have nearly the same responsibilities as those other positions).  But as you said, there are no set time periods.

In some ways, it probably depends on what kind of computer you use.  I switched to Mac in the 00s and back then, it was infinitely better than Windows.  OSX Leopard was a fraction of the size of WinXP, more stable and genuine "plug and play" as opposed to "plug and pray"; Mac processors at the time (Motorola G4/G5 series) were also way ahead of Intel back then.  I still have a functioning 2004 Mac G5 tower that I use as a backup server and "jukebox" for my stereo (sure, I could use my laptop to do the same thing, but I like giving the old computer something to do).

I still use Macs, but I'm not nearly as enamoured of it as I used to be.  Today's OSX has become just as bad as "bloatware" as Windows is.  So for me, I kinda look back on the 00s as a "golden age"; at least as far as Mac users are concerned.

landing Dahlen, Goldobin and the pick that became Jack Rathbone was some nice GM-ing at the TDL. It should help to revise any doubts about previous TDL ability by Jim. Sure its all prospects but some will pan out and we really had very little before.

      Stanky Legs

It's selfish for the Canucks and fans if they don't even explore giving the Sedins a chance to win a cup with another team. They can always sign back for one year here to finish their career.

if the sedins wanted to go, the canucks would try to move them but would have to eat a lot of their salary. again, they want to retire canucks.

    3. Beary Sweet

      Beary Sweet

Dahlin would be my pick today but based on what happened this past year where Liljegren slipped really bad due to mono, anything can happen. He has franchise player written all over him along with a couple others like Veleno, Svechnikov, Tkachuk and many more. Quite the luxury!

    4. HerrDrFunk

      HerrDrFunk

Don't worry, I'm sure the Canucks won't get a sniff at either of them once the lottery happens. So we won't have to stress about which one to pick!

I think we're pretty decent with our C depth, and now with Pearson looking back in form, maybe Leivo, Jake progressing, etc. we've got lots of middle 6 Fs to go around. Petey needs a LW, thats really the only hole.

Assuming of course we have a d group that can actually help move the puck next year so the Fs can actually spend more time on actual offence. I wonder if a guy like Dzingle or Panik is a fit there? Panarin at 10 mil per worries me.

More than anything we need d upgrades imo.
