Yeah, but really we would be hoping to pick a RHD of Hroneks caliber. and picking up D in the first round is always a gamble (Juoelevi) 1

Would you be happy if the Canucks used their 1st on Reinbacher or the other RHD ? their supposed to go 14-28. both rhd will likely be gone before the Isles pick. Okay. Now I will reiterate, what happens if the Islanders keep their pick this year and next season that is third overall?

Roll the dice. Show me how we get a quality RD? We have plenty of forward talent. PLENTY. We have a great goalie. We need defense. Also we don't need another *ahem* Juolevi situation. Takes a price to get a known, young, commodity. Edited March 1, 2023 by Oregon.Duck 1 4
Popular Post BCNate
I don't think anyone complaining about this deal understand how good Hronek has been this season. He is a top pair 25 RD having a monster year and is on a really good deal for next year. I absolutely love this. 2 1
Popular Post Nucker 67
Well, okay, trying to be rational. The Canucks were probably going to draft a D with the NYI 1st and maybe even with the 2nd. Say they took Reinbacher and Price. Cool. A few years down the road, maybe there's been a setback in their development, or they're no longer projecting as Top 4 D. Now we're just hoping they can make the NHL/team one day. Woo reminds me of this. In Hronek they get a very good, NHL proven Top 4 RD and he's only 25. What VAN has needed for a long time. The Canucks aren't done yet either, I don't think. Maybe they recoup that 2nd somehow. The 1st now becomes very important, they can't miss with that pick. 2

Coconuts
My initial take is that I'm not thrilled with this move. I hate giving up high picks and now we're out both a 1st and a 2nd. Another management group that talks about wanting to acquire picks who turns around and flips them out, the more things change the more they stay the same. But we'll see where we stand after the deadline, after the draft, and going into next season's camp. But yeah, not thrilled right now as he's not even a defensive specialist and our inability to stop teams from scoring goals is what's really done us in this season. Hopefully there's more coming. Seannnp
I dont hate it but hard to like given what we gave up. Only thing I can assume is management knows something we dont - possibly other deals where we recoup these picks? Lets all hope Edited March 1, 2023 by Seannnp

Hughes - Hronek Won't be, and shouldn't be Hughes-Hronek. Would be a defensive disaster. Now if we have: Hughes-????? ?????-Hronek That's a bonafide top 4. Problem is, there's 2 holes there. Both need to be defensive defencemen. Provorov on that 2nd pair would be fantastic.
