Trade Ryan Miller and sign Cam Ward?

The negativity on this board is unbearable sometimes smh

Everything bad in the world can be traced back to rejection, selfishness, or fear.

If Myers gets signed to 7x8... yikes.

I really like this girl that I matched with on tinder. She got me into Grey's Anatomy. Such a good show.

@UMB Didn't you start watching Grey's because your friend's sister, who you wanted to hook up with, told you to?
-
@Spoderman Ahahah totally forgot about that. That was like June last year man! We're best friends now lol. And greys sucks

@UMB lol nice

@Nuxfanabroad I haven't seen those specific ones you are referring to, no. Yes, methane is worse than CO2, but who knows what the results will be? We'll only find out in real time.
"Huge amounts of methane aren't released over short periods of time"
And that's the million dollar question isn't it: how much is too much for the atmosphere to deal with? Combine the additional methane release with the slow eradication of the boreal forest and we may be in some sort of trouble.
If bees disappear, we're screwed, if the boreal forest disappears, we're in pretty rough.
Overall, we're hopefully going to be juuuuust fine.

According to Botch people around the league think we'll be giving Lucic the same contract as Yandle or more.
Fricks sakes. I'd rather have $8m/4y than $6m/7y

@thejazz97I mean it's not so much of a problem as it hasn't really hindered his career all that much. It's given him a hunchback, which everyone likes to talk about, but it hasn't made him less effective. But fair point, He's really the only NHLer with that condition, so we truly don't know how it will effect him. I'll concede that.
@Wild Sean Monahan Yeah, they're small and fast, but they're also not big and strong. Athletic doesn't necisarily mean how fast you are. Shaquille O'Neal was a very athletic basketball player, but he wasn't all that fast. And Lucic is not a slow skater. He's an average skater, I'll give you that, but again, I don't think he will see a major drop off in his speed until he's at least 33. Players don't usually hit the age of 30 and all of a sudden lose their skating ability. Once he hits 33 or so, it will start to decline, if he isn't able to keep it up with modern medicine and practices.
Look, all signings have risk. You can't fleece everyone on every deal and come out with exactly what you want. If you want to get a player to play for you, you have to be willing to take some risk back. Otherwise the player gets fleeced and moves on. If it's a good gamble, take it, if it starts to go south 4 or 5 years from now, deal with it then.
-
Again, I don't doubt that he'll be productive at least for a few years. My worry is that he'll get slower and maybe incur some injury problems. I just feel anybody who plays the way he does is bound to have those issues st some point.
I fully understand that just about every free agent contract tends to be a little on the expensive side and often end up being boat anchors by the end. That's the nature of free agency, you overpay. Where I find issue with it for the Canucks is that he'll be on the books when it's time to pay our kids.

Blueberries on booze..good point there.
A few yrs back, was really having trouble waking(mid-sleep) if I had a few. I'd get sleepy after 2 or 3 beers, then would wake at some ungodly hr..like wide awake.
Watch your sugar, caffiene at night as well. Lastly, a sleep-partner with delicious curves can enhance the overall experience! :^)

@MJDDawgYou can breath easy. If the Oilers win the lottery, the Canucks can pick no lower than 5th.
I just hope the whooshing sound isn't your comment going over my head

Bruce Arthur just said he heard Stamkos would prefer Vancouver over Toronto.

So Kanye West is coming to Canada in the summer

Are you connecting? Picasso is dead. Steve Jobs is dead. Walt Disney is dead. Name somebody living that you can name in the same breath as them. Don’t tell me about being likable. We got 100 years here. We’re one race, the human race, one civilization. We’re a blip in the existence of the universe, and we constantly try to pull each other down. Not doing things to help each other. That’s my point. It’s like I’m shaking talking about it.
-
The Canucks' two biggest signings should be Baertschi and Tryamkin.
Other than that, the kids will get squeezed out if we keep 3 of Hamhuis, Burrows, Edler, and Vrbata...

I almost included Kevin Gravel on the list but it seems like the LA Kings don't want to part with him. He just got recalled by the Kings and may find himself locked into that roster now. I'm pretty sure he's one of the reasons why Ehrhoff got waived. Still though, from LA, either Gravel or Derek Forbort would be nice additions to the Canucks blueline.

@Rubik will do! and yeah hahaha, she knows. She was kinda happy-surprised, and she's talked to me since, so I'd say I'm doing decent so far

With Edler, Tanev, Hutton, Hamhuis, Biega, Pedan, Sbisa, Larsen, Tryamkin, who's coming out next season? Sbisa?

Edler has said before he won't waive his NMC, if he did he would fetch a decent return at the draft. Ideally I'd like to see Edler traded for a prospects, a top 15 pick or involved in a deal for Hamonic.
Hamhuis - Hamonic
Hutton - Tanev
Pedan - Sbisa
Draft Chychrun.Biega as the 7th.
I don't mind Sbisa, but he is overpaid.
-
Edler said last year it depends on the team. Did something happen this year that said he won't waive? This was 2014.
The article points out that Edler is set to become a first-time father this summer, which could play into his desire to stay put in Vancouver. Still, he seems to understand that a no-trade clause only offers so much protection (see Garrison, Jason): "In the end, I get to decide [for myself]," Edler told Expressen, "but if the team wants [a trade] ... well, then you get to decide whether you want to play for a team that does not want you."
Edler has a no trade clause, not a nmc.
The No-Trade Clause:
A No-Trade Clause is much less restrictive. It only places restrictions on movement by trade. A player with a No-Trade Clause cannot be traded by a team unless the player provides consent. A limited (partial or modified) No-Trade Clause is often less restrictive than a full No-Trade Clause and depends on the conditions negotiated in the player’s contracts. Often with these No-Trade Clauses, the player is asked to provide a list of teams to which he would be willing to be traded or NOT traded to. This list can change or fluctuate from season to season.

I've watched 3 seasons of Game of Thrones in the past 6 days... what's the worst TV binge you guys have done? I'd say this is up there for me with LOST in 5 weeks and Breaking Bad in 2 weeks.

@thejazz97 - Perhaps they misheard/misread, and thought the question was, not "best", but "oldest" center...

@J-23 just saw this too. You can tell they really loved and cared about each other. Man this **** makes me sad.

Two of Myers/Sutter/Eriksson, one or two of Rathbone/Juolevi/Hoglander, Stecher, probably another prospect/AHL player and definitely our 2021 1st for OEL and a depth player coming back is probably going to be around what the offer is, if not more.
Which, to get someone like OEL and to get rid of one or two of Myers/Sutter/Eriksson’s contracts is a no-brainer.

@Phil_314 - I appreciate your feedback.
I’m not sure if I quite agree that Benning has leverage over Arizona’s GM. Arizona isn’t obligated to deal with Vancouver and can simply let OEL sit if he feels that Vancouver is trying to low ball him (or just try and deal with Boston or wait for OEL to extend his desired destinations).
The deal has to make sense for Arizona. They aren’t just going to give us OEL for two young pieces that haven’t lived up to expectations (Virtanen and Juolevi) + our poop (Eriksson, etc.).
If the Canucks get OEL, then OEL and Hughes will likely be our top two LD’s for the next 5 years. Hence, guys like Juolevi, Rathbone, and even Tryamkin should he decide to return, may have limited opportunity in terms of moving up on the depth chart. Hence, making them expendible.
I would absolutely hate to lose Rathbone but If moving Rathbone (who would essentially be an extraneous piece for us if we had both OEL and Hughes) allows us to keep both Hoglander and Podkolzin, that’s a deal that I easily do.
Ditto for Demko. We can fantasize all we want about how the Canucks will be able to keep both Demko and Markstrom beyond next season, but all you’re doing is creating another Luongo/Schneider situation, and that’s of course, if Demko doesn’t get picked up in the expansion draft.
If the Canucks can get Arizona to take on some of our garbage contracts that ar buyout friendly (ie Baertschi, Sutter, and Ferland who has a good chance of being LTIR’d, AND not have to give up Hoglander or Podkolzin), then I think we make out like gangbusters.
Next season:
Miller-Pettersson-Boeser
Pearson-Horvat-Toffoli
Roussel-Gaudette-MacEwen
Motte-Beagle-Eriksson
OEL-Myers
Hughes-Tanev
Edler-Stecher
Markstrom
NewBackUp
2021 off-season:
-Hoglander replaces Pearson
-Either Podkolzin replaces one of Toffoli or Boeser (who gets traded for a draft pick), OR Podkolzin gets used as a sweetener to clear out some bad contracts (ie Beagle and Roussel)
-Tryamkin or a cheap 3rd vet that can kill Penalties replaces Edler-Eriksson moved to a cap floor team (1 year left plus only 2 million in real dollars owed = fairly easy to do).
-Dipietro replaces our vetbackup goalie.
All of the above should allow for the Canucks to be able to sign Pettersson and Hughes.
2021-2022:
Miller-Pettersson-Boeser
Hoglander-Horvat-Podkolzin
Roussel-Gaudette-MacEwen
Motte-Beagle-NewGuy
OEL-Myers
Hughes-Tanev
Tryamkin-Stecher
Markstrom
Dipietro

Sorry but looking at the lineup you created alone already tells me you don't understand about the cap.
Even with trading Sutter and Baertschi, this isn't an EA NHL game from the 2000's with no cap ceiling, so there's next to no way we can bring everyone back (Markstrom, Tanev, Toffoli, OEL and Stecher would probably cost $28-$30 million dollars) and not give up Eriksson who you still have on your 4th line.
-
I understand the cap but couldn't be arsed to look up the numbers.
FYI - In my above example, Arizona would take on Sutter, Baertschi, AND Ferland. The reason why I mentioned those three guys as opposed to Eriksson, is because Eriksson is buyout proof (i.e. minimal cap hit reduction from a buyout), whereas that's not quite the case with Sutter and Baertschi. Ferland is also an extremely good candidate to be LTIR'd, and so Arizona might be willing to take him on.
IN: OEL: 8.25 million
OUT: Ferland + Baertschi + Sutter: 3.5 million + 3,366,666 million + 4,375 million = 11.241 million
11.241 million - 8.25 million = 2.741 million savings for us. Arizona would still be cap compliant taking on those contracts, but barely. Buying all or some of the guys that I mentioned should allow them to afford both Virtanen and Rathbone's cap hits.
From our end, in an independent deal, we could use Demko as a sweetener to move out Eriksson which would give us the cap space needed to make us compliant for the coming year.
BTW - my assumption with the Stecher signing is that we'd be able to move Benn somehow without retention. Otherwise, unqualify Stecher.
Anyways - the main point I'm trying to make is that both the Canucks and Coyotes could make things work from a cap standpoint before the season starts (either through dealing exclusively with each other or through independent deals once they've made the trade).
FWIW - I don't think we'll end up moving Demko, and Eriksson would likely go to Arizona. One of our young d-men that doesn't go to AZ (i.e. Rathbone or Juolevi), would end up being used in an independent deal to move someone like Baertschi or Ferland.
-
I’m... ready to move on from Jim.

How many years total does Benning last as Canucks GM when it’s all said and done?
He’s at 7 so far.
