QMJHL no good.

Lafreneire isn't amazing yet, but has already set a career high in assists at just 40 games. He does seem to be improving, even if rather slowly.

I know there's a lot of hype that comes with being drafted 1OA but he just turned 21 in October, it's waaaaay too early to be writing him off.

Wasn't really "pointless" to get Schmidt.  The Canucks' right side D was essentially just Myers at that point if I recall correctly (Benning was focused on OEL, so Tanev and Stecher both walked).  Schmidt looked like he could've been a good RD replacement (even though sadly he didn't fit).

We basically got a free trial of Schmidt for a year. 

This year? That isn't that outlandish of a statement. I'd still give Tanev the edge but Stecher has been quietly doing really well.

I don't think in cheering for the Canucks and only the Canucks i hate all the other teams.  Prefer to just not acknowledge their existence.  But i do watch the playoffs pretty Canadianly (cheer for the good Canadian kids playing still)

I am tribal AF with hockey. It's a big part of the fun for me. 

I hate certain players/personalities with a passion but I like a lot of other players not on the Canucks. Hey they could be Canucks one day. Another note it is mighty painful watching our boys. Good grief

Auston Matthews has scored 4 goals in his last 13. He is paid $11,634,000 per year, for three more yearas.. So, Leafs lovers, are we havin' fun yet? Is this the year Toronto collapses inwards on itself, and the Shanaplan is revealed a a Sham Plan?

Watched the whole game and Edmonton was beaten to every loose puck. Vegas forwards smothered McDavid and Draisaitl all night and neither could get any space. Seems to me the key to beating Edmonton is exactly what Vegas did. Seriously, Edmonton looked to be the new Not Ready for Prime Time Players.

yes, i ride mine to do groceries, and other trips but walk in doors. mine is a 4 wheeler. parked for the winter. i have a rid’em’mower and keep my yard looking good in the summer. i miss the mobility to go out when i want to.

Don't know, Alf-meister..won't speculate. Lately feel people are more civil/polite to each other here, & that's nice. Life's too short to be nasty if someone doesn't jive with one's sporting views. The site is more interesting when everyone isn't parroting the company line, & there's diversity with opinions.

I'll be changing the channel whenever I see Ron McLean. Can't stand him. Cherry was the real deal, like him or hate him. He didn't bow to anybody and spoke from the heart. I disagreed with him more than I agreed, but he created conversation. As for PK Subban, not a fan of him either, he's a clown. Burke sounds like an option, maybe that would work, but he's old school as well and speaks his mind. He's not a robot, and the CBC might not like that.

Yea, Laine just would not be a good fit in Columbus with Torts’ coaching style. I also can’t imagine they’d want to go 5 years without a 1st round pick.

with the offer sheet rules you need to have the picks available for the next draft, with the one exception being if you go fully monty at 4 1sts you can do it over 5 years. Right now, CBJ doesn't have the picks to do a smaller offer sheet than 10.4.

So weirdly CBJ can do 4 1sts, but not 2 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd

I thought Laine was the next OV, and better than Matthews.  Now, he’s pretty much fallen way down the list of top players.  He’s actually costing himself millions.  He was looking at a huge contract.  Now he’s likely only getting show me bridge deal.

Laine is not even as good as Boeser.  Zadorov is a beast.  Pair him with Tryamkin and nobody would ever want to enter our blueline...

Gretzky scored over 200 points multiple times.  McDavid doesn’t  score enough points to make up for his horrifyingly aweful play without the puck.  Give me Eichel every day, and all day.  Add to Eichel’s superior defensive game, his being so much harder to play against, and clearly you have a much better player.   McDavid is fast, and fun to watch, but is he really a winning player, who makes his teammates better?  Give me Eichel.  

I guess we'll see who's right in around 10-15 years or so when both are ready to retire.

I’m thinking Rivhel has at least one Cup with the Sabres as the alpha dog.  McDavid to win a Cup, will need to go to another team, and play with a top notch checking center.

and have ended up aligning that appreciation with our home team

but sometimes the home team is very weak at hockey

and we can partially feed our appreciation in other teams

we need standards to hold our home team to

you think the coiler fans should not point to how other teams are run

i really liked gretzky .. he never played for the canucks

(lemieux, lindstrom, orr, etc.. the iconic hockey players best exemplified the best in hockey no matter what jersey they wore)

there are current nhl players who have not yet played for the canucks

who i admire and kinda hope they may join our home team

is that offside until they actually join?

how or when does that allegiance change actually happen

can jb show interest in a non canuck player without being a traitor?

i had a hatred for adolphe hitler and charley manson but not teams over hockey. i disliked mike keenan and the toronto media sometimes but that is it. 

I don't mind the Leafs on-ice team. They have some knowledgeable fans but for the most part they are pretty annoying and way overrate their players. The media is also annoying.

It's interesting to read about other posters' most hated teams.  I never even thought about the Caps and the Kings being hated more than the LOSER LEAFS.  Crapitals is hilarious!

IMO Dahlin would be better developing in Europe.  I think the negatives of playing him now will stunt his game.  Others can disagree.  It’s an opinion board.  To me, when I watch Dahlin play, I see a scared player who is too often blowing snow.  I don’t think that’s his natural tendency, but rather he does that because he’s so young.  IMO that’s harmful to a player’s development.
