  1. “They were hitting, holding, cutting, grabbing, clutching, hitting,” Nurse fumed. “It’s been going on all year. I do not understand why they are letting everyone play one of the best players in the league so physically. I do not understand it.”

Oh Darnell how dare people actually hit McDavid lol

Thanks :) Lol I screw up enough on my own most of the time - I'm curious how that ended up in a hockey article

    3. PhillipBlunt

      PhillipBlunt

I think it ended up in the article because Mark Sphincter is a lazy journalist who doesn't bother to actually investigate quotes he puts in his articles. He clearly googled it and just cut and pasted the text into his "article".

    4. MikeBossy

      MikeBossy

In the article it is funny as he says this:

Beginning Tuesday, when St. Louis visits the Oilers on Sportsnet, our cameras will go in search of such interference off the puck, as McDavid tries to join the play. If it’s there, and we have little doubt it exists, Canadians across the country will see it for the next two days — because that’s the media’s role in all of this.

Mark Spector is on the case!!!

    3. Patel Bure

      Patel Bure

@Brad Marchand - so what you're saying is that McDavid bought his house for 6 million dollars but it's probably only really worth 1.5-2 million?

    4. Brad Marchand

      Brad Marchand

It's the house he had to settle on after he 'ran out of time' deciding whether to buy a different house.

  2.  I the only one hoping Brady Tkachuk drops down to 7th? I know we need offensive defenceman but man this kid is going to be something.

Potentially having him and Virtanen in our top six would cause other teams fits tbh, I'd be fine with taking him if he's available. Admittedly I'm leaning towards taking D with our top two picks though. Our prospect pool really needs more quality D men.

Can't deny I've been hating on Tkachuk's for a while...

Brady's way too awful for Bergevin to pass up. No way he makes it to #7.

Just read an article on Wahlstrom - damn there are some great players this draft - wish we could scoop up another pick

  3. LMAO at Sportsnet bragging about Dubas's cap wizardry - yippee he made enough space for Marner - what about next year when he has 18 million to sign basically an entire defensive core lol

Cici and Kerfoot arbitration will award 9 million for the two.  Leafs might have to walk from both guys.  I really think a team should offer sheet Marner at 11 million times 7 years.  Islanders should do it.  Come on Lou!  Stick the knife into your old boss and twist.  You’ll like it, and so will we all!

    3. JM_

      JM_

Buffalo should offer sheet Marner. They have 40+ mil in cap space after this season and can easily lock up their RFAs by then too.

      @Jimmy McGill

thats a great idea!  Buffalo is close to home for Marner too.  Love to see this happen.

I'd take a Bruins cup win over a Leafs cup win. I'm not aboard the Canada must see a cup at any cost train. If Toronto won a cup we'd never hear the end of it, if Boston knocked out the Leafs and did it the Leaf trolling would only intensify.

I hope we tank HARD next season. 2023 draft is DEEP. Trade Boeser, Miller, Horvat (assuming he doesnt want an extension), Garland for 2023 1st round picks + more.

If any stupid team is willing to overpay for Hoglander Im fine with that too.

      Tank?

Remember when some thought with summer signings the cup was coming

I can't recall how we were to retain people with expiring contracts?

So was this team constructed to be better for this year only and with more let downs after we again would have lost people for nothing (especially if we had made the playoffs and old guard still in place)? Just up and groggy still wondering what the past plan would have been?

Why don't they call some of these penalties and let it escalate into goonery,Z.Chara and  R.Reaves from vegas knights seem to be able to run around hitting people and no penalties,I don;t mind rough and tumble hockey but when you start hitting guys then crosschecking them when they are down(Reaves),there has to be some rules against that goonery. Those are shi%%y refs that should go back to pee wee hockey where they belong.

      Final? What final?  :)

I wasn't interested once the final 2 teams were set - but specially after how long they waited to play the 1st game.

Besides - NHL has already given the Bruins the cup, doesn't matter what they do, punching people in the back of the head, hitting goalies, skating more than 20 feet to hit someone - no suspensions - but make sure the other team loses players.

    4. Bruce Boudreau

      Bruce Boudreau

Yes absolutely, I haven't watched a full game since round 2.

The NBA playoffs and especially the Raptors run has been mesmerizing...

If you're looking at the Oilers this season, you'd start to wonder how they forgot to play hockey over last summer.  Or....did they realise its a lot easier to get a #1 defenseman in the draft than trade for him/sign as a free agent.  Kind of a pull a Pittsburgh like when Lemieux was up in the draft....

    3. Green Building

      Green Building

Doesn't bother me anymore, if Edmonton gets Dahlin people will respect them even less than they do now. I think it's just as likely that we see a repeat of last year where a team leaps all the way up in defy the odds fashion to snag him.

      DADDYROCK

We already have weak defense men,

We need a horse,a guy that eats up a lot of minutes and seems like he is out there the whole game, a defender that puts the opposition on their backsides when the come into our zone and go to shoot at our goalie.A heads up, pass the puck to the right person at the right time type of guy.

Very dependable defense man are a tough thing to get unless you draft them

E.BOUCHARD OR NOAH DOBSON MIGHT JUST BE THE GUY WE REALLY NEED.

Allow me to clarify my original comment - I think we will end up with an excellent prospect - what we do with him from there is going to be up to our player development team

      DADDYROCK

Edmonton will not make the playoffs and not only that but they have Cap issues because of 4 players making around 33 million.Do I feel sorry for them,NO I DO NOT.

This team has gotten 4 first overall picks at the LOTTO DRAFT in the last decade or so,  when the Canucks have never ever had one in fifty years or so,this is one of the reasons I do not feel sorry for the way this team has stunk for sooo long, another reason is they have many Stanley Cup wins when they has Gretzsky etc. BOO HOO for Edmonton.

    4. King Heffy

      King Heffy

I wonder how much being a Soiler is holding McDavid back.  Look at how Eberle and Hall exploded when they finally escaped that dump of a city and joined actual NHL franchises.

I wonder what kind of garbage return they'll get for McNuggets when he's finally had enough of embarrassing himself by playing for that joke of an organization.  Edmonton would struggle to make the AHL playoffs even if they were forced to play in the league they belong in.

Is Myers overpaid, certainly.  And We probably overpaid Benn a bit too, but when all is said and done, on paper, we've kind of insulated Hughes with better options than we had at the end of last season.  We added qualities to our backend that we were lacking last year, and hopefully the sum of all those moving parts will be greater than the individuals.
