I forgot how binge worthy Riverdale is

I got legitimately high for the first time last night and wowee that was a different experience. I think I overdid it just a little though.

Easy to say when you’re on a bottom five team

Does anyone else feel like this is like the alternate universe in Back To the Future where Biff is in charge and everything is out of control?

It's a time for sober reflection.
The 7 or 8 decades preceding this sh*tshow, were a debt-fueled exploitation(mostly by a privileged elite, in OECD nations). Producing a massive, illusory bubble, we all thought/prayed/hoped was a real economy.
In 2008 this harsh reality could have been realized, just as easily. We managed to "kick the can down the road" one last time. Ran outa' road.

8 decades ago brings us to 1940, the 2nd year of WW2. Fuel was important for the war effort but in no way was the world at the point of oil dependency on an economic scale. I think the real beginnings can be traced to the 'fuel shortages' of the 70's, though oil was plentiful at that time. Just my opinion from personal memory, no research done.

I like this. Gives everyone the same amount of games.

at 73 games every team plays the same number except either Boston plays 72 or Detroit plays 74, ( I would vote for Detroit playing the extra game, their fans deserve something) no one is catching them anyway. and every team gets at least a 2 game warm up before the playoffs. Could finish the season in 8 or 9 days. It would be like a preseason/playoff//warm up tournament before the playoffs. Every team within reach of the playoff would be playing meaningful games, at least until they are eliminated. Except Boston who cannot be caught, but with 3 games against Detroit, Detroit would be playing not to get annihilated, so they would have to put up a fight, haha

I log on to twitter and see people still crying about giving up a 1st for Miller Some things never change I guess

The fact that we could be playing Vegas for the division tomorrow night really, really hurts

Who’s one prospect you’re really disappointed he never panned out? For me it’s Hunter Shinkaruk. Dude had sweet hands and was overall really good when he was drafted.

So I have an idea for if the season resumes and plays beyond June 30th (when ufa and rfa contracts expire). Would it make more sense to either push free agency back to whenever the playoffs end? Or just give expiring ufa/rfa contracts one added year and keep the salary cap the same?

The trouble is Pears that you have contracts that expire on June 30th, that had a particular value, and a particular duration. (aka 3 years @ $1,000,000 ELC). Now this contract is extended for 1 year, but during that 1 year, he is has a career ending injury. How is the value he is established, if not by the market place for that type of player, who gets paid a certain salary.
Not to mention you arbitrarily are dictating his value, and forcing him to take it. (even if for 2 months)
I do not see how that works in a free market society.

Moot, no league is resuming on June 30th. I miss sports as much as the next person but I feel like I am the only one watching the news. How on earth is any sport going to be able to resume in just 3 months? And quite frankly I don't even want to watch hockey in the Summer time, and I cannot be the only person that feels that way.
-
According to 31 Thoughts, they would just push the dates back. Apparently the NHL and the PA have been working very closely together on various scenarios that would see the season concluded in some manner. Neither side benefits from the huge loss of revenue. The league has gone as far as asking the teams for available venue dates through August.

Why does Sportsnet have us as the 2nd wild card when everyone else has us as the 1st?

@goalie13 he's wrong. They had to win in regulation not overtime.
-
@peaches5 It seemed like a plausible explanation when I saw it. I was too tired to research the real answer. Besides, I try to not get too hung up on mid-season details like that. It's only the final standings that matter.
-
Prediction: Toffoli and Miller are gonna drag us into the playoffs.

@coastal.view That’s valid. However he is also being played harder from opposing teams than he is used to. It is going to take a little while to adjust/mature.

As much as I would hate to move Demko, if it came down to it what would a package for Dumba look like? I think Demko, Madden, Stecher, and a 2nd would be close.
-
Dumba isn't worth that package. Stecher and Demko are more valuable than Dumba is combined and trying to add Madden and a 2nd just doesn't benefit the Canucks. Once the Canucks hand out fat contracts to Hughes and Petterson, having guys on ELC's like Madden and having "cheaper" but very talented players like Stecher and Demko on the roster is going to be WAY more important than getting Dumba. I do like Dumba but I wouldn't go for him. Besides, I have a feeling a team like the Maple Leafs will offer way more to get him because they're gonna be desperate next year when Ceci and Barrie leave in free agency. PASS for me.
-
-
I cannot believe that performance by Demko. He’s really starting to remind me of 2011 Cory Schneider.

You can not win in this league without stellar goaltending and right now we have two gentlemen who are really giving us a chance to win every night.
I for one absolutely love this, since it has been a long haul to get our team back into the thick of things and hopefully make the playoffs,so some of this teams young group can experience the tenacity and determination it takes to win our first STANLEY CUP.

@DADDYROCK We definitely have a couple of things to iron out, but we are so, so close.

brock is fine
i don't really think that is what the issue is
it is brock compared to his team mates
brock has stepped up a little this season in production
and has rounded out his game a bit
other teammates have made bigger production steps
jake, pearson, miller, bo?, leivo
so comparatively brock seems to have slowed a little
his signature wrist shot is also less frequent
that shot really made him stand out
he stands out less
