As long as he doesn't get injured like Bure did whenever he wore this number. That's why he switched it back. I still loved the number though. I have that number on an old skate jersey with my last name on the back and I used it every time I played an NHL video game with my created character.

Erm well...

59gp 12g 21a 33points.

So every 20gp he scores 11points

20gp X 4 = 80

4 X 11= 44 points as a 3rd liner.

I did know those stats.  He is well over 50% O zone starts. 55% I think? And not against highest quality of comp is my memory of the fancier stats? Someone would have to tell me his Corsi, but I do not suspect it is high.

A team can always use a scorer, someone with a nice touch.  I remember as a kid my Jets playing Gtrezky & Kurri's Oilers. They could mail it in. Have circles skated around them.  Get three of the next 15 shots and score on all of them. Still win.  Petey is close to that good. Gaudette not so much, and gets out efforted by Elias.

You cannot rely on outscoring teams while being outplayed forever.

I saw some games where he played with Jam!  Want to see more...

Example; make Sutter expendable by blocking shots, killing penalties.  Coaches deploy those minutes to guys who are most willing. Get a broken nose to keep Jamie Benn from the front of the net. Spend hours, weeks learning face off's with Bo. Then pop the goal Sutter misses?

Hawryluk does those things.  Be interesting to see who gets ice time?

Pretty good deal.  He's gotten better every year and should improve.

It's too bad we have cap problems, it would have been neat to lock him up for multiple seasons in light of having to negotiate with Pettersson/Hughes/Demko next year.

That the nicest thing I’ve heard you say  about JB.   Yes, I agree, he’s gotten better every year and should improve.

Yeah, life with Chris Gear in the mix isn't entirely grim, at least in terms of internal negotiations.

Good price. We don’t have much cap room so it fits well.

Jake needs to follow the same path in the flat cap era. If he signs for a max of 2M per season then I’m happy. Anything more then I say let him go. The arbitrator will surely award him more but there is nothing saying he and his agent won’t settle for a little less before it gets to the hearing.

Nice.

NOW TRY HIM ON HORVAT'S FREAKIN' WING FFS!!!

Nope! Apparently that spot is reserved for Lui E? Coach thinks his "Defensive" ability far out weighs anything else important on this team including developing our young prospects. B)

Assuming Jake gets signed for 2.5 (maybe he takes less on a 1 year deal). Rathbone or OJ will be in, so that's a wash. That puts us roughly 1.5 million over. Bury Baertschi and we are about 500k over. Buyout Sutter to save 2.3 million. Add Jayce Hawryluk (Marc Michaelis would be fighting for this spot as well along with Jasek surely), and we have 1 million left to sign (Koekkoek could be had for under a million most likely)/call up another dman to put us at 14 forwards, 7 dmen and 2 goalies. Any prospect that beats out LE or Benn can be accommodated by sending them down. The lower we spend on Jake, the more we can invest in that bottom pairing RD (but as we can see, we couldn't afford what Stecher was asking for).

While it'll be nice to trade out cap rather than buyout, it's not impossible to accomplish without a trade that could cost us assets.

This sounds good. As for old BS..gettin' tired of hearing about that wonky groin. Never could get a full season outa' the bloke.

Im thinking the top 9 will be much the same, hopefully Baertschi and Eriksson are not on the roster opening night.

Miller Pettersson Boeser

Pearson Horvat JV

Ferkie? Gaudette Macewan

Roussel Beagle Motte

Hawryluk?

With Lind, Jasek and Hoglander in the mix

Ferland skating on his own in manitoba is great news, here's to him returning!

Makes sense with his last year of arbitration next year,  and less then expected.

He has the right attitude, works hard, has scored in clutch situations and is still developing.

If he can focus on his 200' game including PK time while still producing at a .5 ppg he will solidify his 3rd line position and be due for a good raise at seasons end.

i would think he's a great teammate just by his demeanor and will be a Canuck for at least the next 4-5 years.

Great 5th round pick by JB obviously!

Lock JV in for 2-3 years at 2-2.25 M, as well as a depth RD with NHL experience and we should be good to go!
